RAWALPINDI, June 21 (Online): A local court of Rawalpindi Thursday issued non-bail able arrest warrants of Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidate for Premiership Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani in ephedrine scam. The Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) filed plea in the court of ANF Magistrate Rawalpindi against Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa seeking arrest warrants of both the accused as evidences are clear of their involvement in ephedrine quotas scam. The ANF verified that unauthorized drug quotas were approved by Makhdoom Shahabuddin that led to the ephedrine scandal involving former premier’s son Ali Musa Gilani. The ANF authorities stated that Makhdoom Shahabuddin has allotted 250 tons quota of ephedrine for a company based in Islamabad. The court then issued non bail able arrest warrants of Makhdoom Shahabuddin and Ali Musa Gilani and ordered to present both the accused before the court within one week. Former Director General (DG) Health Dr Rasheed Jumma, an approver, verified in his statement to the investigation team that it was Makhdoom Shahabuddin who approved the ephedrine quota. Meanwhile, Makhdoom Shahabuddin has rejected the allegations against him and termed it baseless. He stated the issuance of warrant seems to be a planned tactic and they are not vulnerable to such tactics.
