KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Women Development Department Syeda Shehla Raza has said that one should not err to understand women helpless, hap less and hopeless. She should not earn respect being a charity. She should be rendered full equality and equity. The Society, as a gesture should extend full cooperation to women folk in each field of activity in order to establish a beautiful equilibrium. She expressed these remarks while leading a walk in connection with International Women Day from Sindh Assembly to Press Club jointly organized by the Women Development Department Sindh in collaboration with Hands, SPO, Madadgar, SRSO, Aurat Foundation, PPRP and other women NGOs here Friday, says a Press release.
Syeda Shehla Raza in her address said that today the day is being celebrated in the memory of women struggle in1908 for their rights and basic needs. They were burnt alive and after that made strike for their cause. Pakistan and especially Sindh has leading a par to celebrate the day with full enthusiasm and unity of all women even our brethren males are supporting the cause and participated fully in the todays walk to join our hands and shoulder to shoulders.
She said PPP and its leadership always given top priority to women segment, many welfare programmes and initiative have been launched by taken practical steps to empower the women not only socially, economically but also make the self-reliant and self-sustainable through proper legislation and implementation over all legislation for the benefits of women of Sindh.
She has said that the Government has planned Women Bank, police stations, equal opportunities in employments, Women Landless Haris Program, BISP etc.
She said they have recently launched interest-free loans to women of 2 UCs after that it was extended to 18 district but now expect that it would be reached in all 29 districts of Sindh.
In the end of walk at Press Club Secretary Women Dev Deptt Aaliya Shahid, MPA Nusrat Sahar Abbasi, Raheema Pabhwer of SPO, Dr Tanveer Ahmed of HANDS, Zia Awan of LAHRA, Chairperson of Women Commission Sindh Buzhat Shirin, Anees Haroon, Samina of Mirpur Sakro and Khursheed Begum of Badin also spoke and highlighted the international struggle of women for their rights on equality and pledged that it would be continued till to get all in Pakistan especially in Sindh to make them empowered, got education and health facilities, end of any violence against women.
They also raised their slogans and voice during the walk with their platform banners. Girl school children and department officials were largely attended and participated in the walk to mark the International Women Day.
