Govt determined to eradicate terrorism: Ahsan2017/10/18

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Interior Minister AhsanIqbal here yesterday said the government was determined to eradicating terrorism and making the defence of the country strong.
Addressing recruits of Rangers at their passing out parade, he said, "The terrorists are under siege, and we will not sit still till ending terrorism." He congratulated the new recruits on completing their basic training and induction in Punjab Rangers.
He added that the new entrants in Rangers had completed their basic training but the process of their education would go on. He said the National Action Plan was an important component in the fight against extremism.
"We have to stay determined and focused on the three guiding principles of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: unity, faith and discipline. We will have to keep an eye on our weaknesses while being proud of our successes," he said.
The minister said Pakistan Rangers were playing an effective role in defence of Pakistan.
"We can foil every conspiracy with national solidarity, power of faith and discipline," he remarked.
Ahsan said martyred Captain Hasnain went beyond the call of duty and set a glorious example for others.
"We have to keep afloat the green flag of Pakistan and let nobody undermine the integrity of Pakistan."
He told the Rangers that they were fortunate that Allah has given them an opportunity to fulfil the duty of defence of the country.

Double trouble for Imran as both ECP, ATC order his arrest2017/10/18

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) directed the Islamabad police yesterday to arrest Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khanand produce him on October 26.
"You are hereby directed to arrest Imran Khan Niazi and produce him before the Election Commission on 26-10-2017 at 10:00 AM," read the ECP's letter to SSP Islamabad.
On October 12, a five-member bench of the ECP issued the warrants after the PTI chief ignored the polls supervisory body's August 24 show-cause notice relating to a foreign funding case.
Imran earlier ignored half a dozen ECP summons to appear in person.
According to him, it was not within the commission's jurisdiction to conduct contempt proceedings against a member of the parliament. 
However, in an expected move on Monday, the party decided that its chief will "voluntarily appear before ECP".
The contempt application was filed on January 23 by a PTI dissident member Akbar S Babar.
Separately, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad issued non-bailable warrants against Imran and Pakistan AwamiTehreek (PAT) chief TahirulQadri in connection with an attack on a police official, SSP AsmatullahJunejo.
The court directed the police to arrest the accused "wherever found and produce them before the court".
