Cadet College Murree Ecstatic student allegedly gang-raped

MURREE: A seventh-class student at Cadet College Murree was allegedly gang-raped at gunpoint in the hostel, according to a police complaint submitted on Thursday.

The police have launched a case against four suspects after the victim’s father submitted a complaint over the event.

According to the Murree police record, the 12-year-old’s father is a resident of Lahore and his son had been a resident at the college dormitory.

“On October 16 when I talked with my kid over the phone, he started crying,” claimed the parent.

Despite repeated tries, the father stated his son would not discuss what had transpired and so he “brought him home”. The parent also reported that his youngster was incredibly afraid and fearful.

“After some time when he returned to his wits he stated in front of other witnesses that on the evening of October 10 he was sleeping in the hostel room when Hassan Afridi, Shahnawaz, Taimoor and Saud came in armed,” the father said to the police.

According to the father, the accused Saud carried a revolver and woke up the kid while Taimoor placed his hand on the victim’s neck and suffocated him. The other two raped the 12-year-old in the meanwhile.

The accused allegedly reportedly warned the victim student  he “would be murdered if he told anyone”.

The father also said that when the victim reported the event to the principal, he screamed at him and hushed him while warning him that he would be “kicked out of the institution if he made any mention” of the problem to someone else.

The police have commenced their investigation on the situation after submitting the complaint.

Commotion at Cadet College

Meanwhile, when the police team entered the campus to enquire about the event, the faculty and students of the college began protesting and upon resistance, the SHO came with the police force.

The situation could still not be brought under control, though.

On getting the information, student Kohsar Faisal Saleem personally attended the campus, while in view of the urgent emergency scenario, an elite force and other officials were also dispatched from Rawalpindi.

According to the reports, discussions proceeded between the police officers and the college administration for the extradition of the accused until late at night.

On the other hand, a medical assessment of the sufferer is also being carried out.

The police in a statement further said that necessary legal action would be taken against individuals opposing the probe.

Child abuse in Pakistan

At least 3,852 children – 2,068 girls and 1,784 boys — were sexually molested throughout Pakistan in 2021, Sahil – an NGO fighting against child abuse – has disclosed in a study titled ‘Cruel Number’.

According to the statistics supplied by the charity, at least 10 children were assaulted every day until 2021.

The categories utilised by the NGO were abduction (1,060 instances); rape (410 cases); sodomy (483 incidents); gang rape (146 cases); and gang sodomy (234 cases) (234 cases). At least 22 boys and 18 girls were slain following sexual abuse while at least 10 boys and three girls were murdered after gang sodomy and rape, claimed the study.

At least 438 children were discovered missing from their families. There were 58 instances of early child marriage and seven cases of Vani. Vani is a 400-year-old custom, this method was first used to resolve feuds between tribes. Later, tribal leaders arranged for jirgas in which females were designated Vani.

The NGO’s research also claimed that familiarity with the victim and the victim’s family topped the list of offenders of child sexual assault. The statics indicated that out of a total of 3,852 incidents, there were at least 1,715 cases where the abusers had familiarity with victims or the victim’s families.
