MILAN (Italy): Independence Day (Youm-e-Azadi) was observed on 14 August (Wednesday) here at the Pakistani Consulate General, Wednesday. The day is observed annually to mark the independence Pakistan had achieved in 1947 and was declared a sovereign state following the end of the British Raj.
Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan Movement, which aimed at creation of an independent Muslim State in the north-western regions of South Asia via partition. The movement was led by the All-India Muslim League under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
The flag hoisting ceremony was hosted at Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan in the morning. Hundreds of Pakistani and Kashmiri people attended this ceremony. When national anthem played, all participants stood up from their chairs. Dr Rizwan Salabat attaché welfare read the message of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Consular General Milan, Dr Manzoor Ahmed Chaudhry said in his speech that once upon the time there was an Adolf Hitler in Europe, and he is known for his cruel behavior and activities while Modi is acting as Hitler regime. In addition, he is the Hitler of this era. We and the rest of Kashmiris, and our vigilant army is always ready for any response. In Europe, from 15th to 18th of August all Pakistani, Kashmiri, Sikhs, and other nationals are going to start a campaign against Modi regime. In addition, we will protest here at Milan outside the Indian Consulate to mark the Indian Day of Independence on August 15 as a Black Day, and I urge you all people to participate in that protest. We are with our Kashmiri people, and we will stand ever side-by-side with Kashmiris.
Mrs. Dr Manzoor said that we did not forget the scenes of partitions of 1947 in 72 years, and Modi revised that scenario again. He is targeting innocent Kashmiris; there is no food, no medicines, and no telephone services in occupied Kashmir for last two weeks. She said that it is the worst part of human violations in Kashmir of 21st century. We urge to international pundits to look deep into the Kashmir issue.
Brigadier Asad Cheema was on professional-foreign-course, and he attended the flag ceremony here at Consulate General, he added that we are united for a purpose, and we all are Pakistani national, we should support our armed forces by all the means.
Syed Muhammad Jamil, a Pakistani national said that we feel deep grief on the current situation of Kashmiris, and we pray to our Lord that help Kashmiri people and give us strength to face the hardships of the time. He added that we stand on the back of Kashmiris, and they are not alone.
There were a huge gathering of male, female, and children today. At the end of the program, there was Pakistani traditional refreshment served among the participants. A crowd was around the CG Dr Manzoor Ahmed Chaudhry, and Brigadier Asad Cheema for selfies.
