ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Asad Umar on Wednesday refuted the rumours of his resignation from the post.

Talking to a private TV channel, Finance Minister Asad Umar said such rumours are a part of the “propaganda against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government”.

He also said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked him to continue his job.

It is pertinent to mention that the minister was receiving severe backlash as the dollar became uncontrollable and rupee faced devaluation.

Sources had claimed that apart from economic experts and opposition, the inner circles of the government were also not satisfied with Asad Umar’s performance.

Rumours were rife from Monday morning that the finance minister had resigned from his post following the criticism. However, the PM House, while putting an end to the claims, had termed the rumours baseless and false.
