LAHORE: Declaring private airline’s reply unsatisfactory, as Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday directed to take measures for bringing back Pakistani passengers stranded in China till Monday.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar resumed the hearing of the suo moto notice.
Supreme Court directed Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to report about flight’s take off within one and a half hour and summoned owner of the private airline Ehsan Sehbai on August 7.
The regional director of private airline told the court that except Saudi Airlines, all other flights were suspended in Guangzhou city of China.
Flights from Lahore to Guangzhou only fly from Pakistan, he added.
“Mr Abrez from private airline will also fly to China. China airline fly from Islamabad to Guangzhou daily. No unsafe plane should be sent for the stranded passengers,” remarked CJP.
Earlier, on Thursday, CJP took notice of the incident over media reports which revealed that at least 300 Pakistani passengers were stranded in Guangzhou city of China.
The passengers had to reach Pakistan through a private airline on July 29 but they were facing difficulties due to delay in flights after some technical issues.
However, CJP had asked for a reply from CEO of airline, Secretary Civil Aviation, Foreign Secretary and ministry of overseas Pakistanis. – NNI
