KARACHI: Chinese Consulate General in Karachi hosted a grand reception to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event was graced by prominent figures, including Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Over 200 guests, representing various sectors of society from the Sindh and Balochistan provinces, as well as foreign diplomats stationed in Karachi, attended the reception.
In his speech, Consul General Yang Yundong reflected on China’s remarkable achievements over the past 75 years. He also highlighted the importance of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in further strengthening China-Pakistan relations. Consul General Yang emphasized China’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan across various sectors. He underscored the shared goal of advancing high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and enriching the long-standing all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, speaking at the 75th National Day celebration of the People’s Republic of China at the Chinese Consulate in Karachi, emphasized Pakistan and China’s commitment to sustainable growth through projects in renewable energy, digital connectivity, and industrialization. The event, hosted by Consul General Yang Yundong, marked a significant milestone in the countries’ longstanding partnership.
Shah praised China’s rapid economic and technological advancements over the past 75 years, calling its progress a global inspiration. He highlighted the historical ties between the two nations, recalling the pivotal role of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Chairman Mao Zedong in establishing the Pakistan-China partnership. He further acknowledged Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s strong relations with the Communist Party of China, adding that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari continues to uphold this legacy.
The Chief Minister underscored the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with Sindh playing a leading role in collaborative projects, particularly in infrastructure and energy. He stressed the broader impact of Pakistan-China cooperation across sectors like agriculture, technology, and education, and how China’s expertise combined with Sindh’s resources could unlock new development opportunities.
Shah highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China, where several agreements were signed to strengthen bilateral ties, and expressed anticipation for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Islamabad this October, which will include high-level discussions with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Looking ahead, Shah mentioned President Asif Ali Zardari’s upcoming visit to China in November, which is expected to enhance cooperation under CPEC and explore new areas of collaboration, further solidifying the Pakistan-China relationship. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and shared prosperity through this enduring partnership.
