Cyber Crime Circle website launched

KARACHI: Dr. Amir Ahmed Shaikh, Director FIA, Sindh Zone has said, “This is the first time that FIA launching such a dedicated complaint reporting Portal, www.fiacybercrimessind.com.pk, where anybody from anywhere in Sind can report cybercrime or harassment using our Online system.”
He said, it is one of the greater challenge for us particularly in acquiring the data. There are some legal challenges at international level as Pakistan has yet to become part of some international agreements.
The newly Online Complaint reporting will make it easy and also help FIA in efficiently responding such crimes, especially more useful for young girls, women and young children who are frequent victims of harassments.
Deputy Director, Abdul Ghaffar briefed the media about FIA Cyber Crime Circle Sindh received 2019 complaints. These complaints can be distributed in three major categories: 1592 or 76% were pertaining to black mailing, harassment and defamation through social media, 307 or 14 % were related to financial fraud, 116 or 5% were threatening calls and the remaining 186 were pertaining to email hacking, spoofing etc.
Ahmed Zaeem, Deputy Director FIA (NRBC) said, it is our aim to ensure enforcement of Cyber Laws, to prevent Cyber Crimes, investigate, detect and prosecute cyber criminals. He requested the media to create massive awareness of this important issue.
