ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday claimed that many seasoned politicians were putting pressure [on government] to get verdicts that are favourable to them but they must remember that today’s leadership is very different and won’t dole out unwarranted clemency to anyone.
Speaking to media persons, she said every attempt to bring Prime Minister Imran Khan down will fail and opposition parties instead of wasting time should invest it to alleviate problems being faced by people.
She also talked about the still-pending Model Town case and added that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have an old tradition of indulging in corruption.
While answering a question about PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah’s remarks about her, she said that when one is no more able to defend himself or his party with sound logic, he starts a malicious campaign.
Meanwhile, Talking to a private television channel, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said family politicians are pressurizing to get verdicts of their own will. She said today’s leadership is much different than previous leaders. She said her best wishes are with Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s meeting as father of both are in jail on corruption charges.
To a question, Firdous said everyone whom inquiry commission summoned will have to face it, adding that they will also appear if summoned.
She said Rana Sanaullah’s personnel attacks are prove that he has nothing to defend. She said perhaps he needs another dose after a legal notice was sent to him.
Firdous added that Model town case is still pending; adding that making lies and libels are old tradition of these politicians. She said opposition going to jail due to its own crimes but they become ill as they face jail but out of the jail they are healthy.
She further said half of the looters are in jail while others have escaped the country. She said their purpose is to weaken PM through political propaganda. – NNI
