India’s Demographic Engineering and Violence Against Muslims Under Modi’s Government

Recent developments in Indian media have raised concerns about the portrayal of attacks against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, prompting experts to call for similar attention to the violence and discrimination faced by Muslims in India. Reports suggest that some Indian media outlets have exaggerated the situation in Bangladesh following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, with claims of over 200 attacks against Hindus being called into question by sources like Al Jazeera.

Violence and Discrimination Against Muslims in India

India, home to over 200 million Muslims, has seen increasing anti-Muslim sentiment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Analysts argue that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under Modi, has pursued policies that marginalize Muslims and foster religious divisions. Since Modi’s rise to power in 2014, incidents of violence against Muslims have reportedly become more frequent, drawing both domestic and international criticism. Experts warn that Modi’s potential re-election in 2024 could further exacerbate these divisions.

Demographic Engineering in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK)

The Modi government has been accused of implementing a settler colonial agenda in Muslim-majority regions, particularly in IIOJK. Following the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A, which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir, there have been reports of large-scale demographic changes in the region. The issuance of domicile certificates to non-locals and the allocation of land to outsiders are seen as attempts to alter the region’s demographic and cultural identity, undermining the rights of the local population.

Calls for International Intervention

Human rights activists and experts have urged the international community to take action against the Modi regime’s policies, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. They argue that the systematic marginalization and demographic engineering of Muslims in India violate fundamental human rights and threaten the social fabric of the country.

The situation remains a significant concern for those advocating for the rights of minorities in India, with ongoing calls for greater scrutiny and intervention at both national and international levels.
