Karachi woke up to light rain across several localities on Saturday morning, offering a refreshing break from the persistent heat that has gripped the city over recent weeks. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that areas including North Karachi, II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, and surrounding zones experienced light to moderate rainfall early in the day.
The PMD forecast indicates that intermittent showers accompanied by thunder are expected to continue through the day, particularly after noon. The maximum temperature is projected to reach 31°C, while humidity levels remain high at 90%, contributing to the muggy atmosphere.
Currently, winds are blowing from the northeast at 10 km/h, and PMD officials noted that cloud activity is intensifying in the southern parts of the city, suggesting the likelihood of heavier rainfall in some areas later today.
First Monsoon Spell Brings Seasonal Relief
Friday’s rainfall marked the official start of the monsoon season in Karachi. This initial spell brought much-needed relief to the city’s residents, who have endured high temperatures and humidity throughout June.
