Dr Shabnam Naqvi organizes Seminar on Women’s Problems
Dr Shabnam Naqvi, Chairperson of Al-Hussain Wefare Association (AWA) arranged a seminar on the topic of “Khwateen ki Tarqi aur inn kay Masail” at the beautiful and big auditorium of Sindh Boy Scouts Building Karachi during the reported week.
Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister for Information Sindh was the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated social work and free medical services for the people of Malir being served by Dr Shabnam through AWA. He said Government of Sindh is committed to resolve all genuine issues of women and of course try its best for the women development. He said Sindh Government will take every step for women’s welfare according to the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
Dr Shabnam, in her address, said that AWA is serving the poor women, widows and divorced and providing monthly ration to the deserving women since long and is also trying to provide scholarships to the deserving students. She said AWA is providing medical treatment free of cost to the poor community of Malir and therefore is in immediate need of an ambulance.
Mubasher Mir, Editor Daily Pakistan Karachi, who was behind this successful event, appreciated services of AWA under the supervision of Dr Shabnam. He also briefed the audience about AWA and appealed for donations for Al-Hussain Welfare Foundation to promote the noble cause.
Dr. Sajid Hussain attends KEC meeting as guest of honour
Karachi Editors Club arranged a special meeting during the week with USA based first Pakistani Nuclear Medicine Dr Sajid Hussain who was in Pakistan for the launching of his book “Tehreek-e-Pakistan ka Gumnam Sipahi” on the memoir of his grandfather Haji Syed Sajjad Hussain Bukhari who contributed in Pakistan movement with all possible means.
Dr Sajid in his address on this occasion said that he left Pakistan for USA to get higher medical education in 1973, six months after the death of his grandfather Sajjad Bukhari who was very loving to him. He said then after 21 years he returned to Pakistan and was shocked to see problems of people, traffic issues and where waste is spread everywhere around Karachi city.
Dr Sajjad briefed about Nuclear Medicine technology which is a revolution in medicine and curing chronicle diseases. He also replied questions from members of KEC. Replying a question about the “Radiations” he said there are different types of radiations but radiations from cell phone is very low and not dangerous but use of cell during driving is very risky.
Mubasher Mir, President KEC also reviewed KEC performance. Mukhtar Aqil, Vice President thanked to the honourable guest on this occasion.
“Parchi” premier
Star-studded premier of Parchi, the latest offering by IRK Films and Arif Lakhani Films in association with ARY Films, was held in Karachi at Nueplex Cinema during the reported week. Elite of the city largely attend the premier. This movie has been the talk of the town since its trailer came out in December, followed by the hit song ‘Billo Hai’ which has the whole country grooving to it.
The talented cast includes Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Usman Mukhtar, Ahmed Ali Akhbar, Shafqat Khan, Mojiz Hasan, Mahenur Haider, Shafqat Cheema, Salmaan Shaukat and Faiza Saleem. Written by Shafqat Khan and directed by the Janaan director, Azfar Jafri, Parchi is the third venture of IRK films after Siyaah and Janaan that released in 2013 & 2016, respectively.
The story of Parchi revolves around a group of friends who find themselves in trouble when one receives a ‘Parchi’ from the gangster he owes money to, and what follows is a series of comical situations, and a full-fledged rollercoaster ride. It is a situational comedy that revolves around gangsters, and highlights the Parchi system in Pakistan without any serious undertones.
