CG Switzerland visits KATI

Consul General of Switzerland PhillippeCrevoisiervisited Korangi Association of Trade & Industry(KATI) during the reported week. Speaking on the occasion he said that a fact-finding mission would visit Pakistan to explore business opportunities. PhillippeCrevoisiersaid that Swiss investors are not concern about law & order situation in Pakistan, business potential is their prime focus. He said that economic conditions of Pakistan are improving and positive change is quite visible. He told that Switzerland was focusing developed economies for investment and business ventures, close business ties with BRICS and neighboring countries is on the priority but now the country is exploring more and more venues for investmentand others were also present.
MasoodNaqi briefed Swiss Consul General about Korangi Industrial Area and different sectors located in the area. He said that although trade relation between the Pakistan Switzerland are more favorable for the Swiss part but it is a positive sign that these relations were expending day year by year. He said that there is need to explore mutual business opportunities for investors and business people of both countries.

The Annual Mushaira in memory of prominent scientist Prof. Dr. Saleemuzzaman Siddiqui was held at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK) during the week.
Renowned literary figure former Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi Prof. Dr. PirzadaQasimRazaSiddiqui presided over the Mushaira entitled “SalanaMehfil-e-SukhanBayade Professor SaleemuzzamanSiddiqui.”
Director ICCBS Prof. Dr. Muhammad IqbalChoudhary delivered opening words. The Mushaira was moderated by JafarAskariJafar. Hundreds of students, scientists, teachers and staff graced the poetry symposium by their vigorous participation.
Among the poets who entertained the audience included AnwerShaoor, Liaquat Ali Asim, FirasatRizvi, NasimNazish, Hijab Abbasi, HaiderHasnainJaleesi, Prof. FayyazVaid, TouqeerTaqi, AllaudinHumdamKhanzada, KashifGhair, Dilawar Ali Azer, Zaheer Abbas and ShahidaUrooj.
Paying tribute to the eminent scholar, Prof. PirzadaQasim said that Prof. SaleemuzzamanSiddiqui was a 20th century Renaissance man who was a scientist, philosopher, artist, poet, critic of literature and a futurist of science.The outstanding and long devoted services of Prof. Siddiqui for the country will always be remembered, he said.

10 persons’ watercolor group exhibition titled “The Journey of Water Color” Curated by A.Q Arif was held at Artscene Galleries, Clifton during the reported week.
Senior Water Color Artist Abdul Hayee as a chief guest performed the opening ceremony by cutting the tape. The exhibition showcases the works of A.Q Arif, Ali Sajid,Arif Ansari, Shan Amrohvi,Abbas Kamangar,MominWaseem Khan,FarrukhNaseem,GhulamHussian,FaruqSiyal and FaeooqAftab.These artists not only belong to the metropolis of Karachi but also hail from Peshawar,Bhawalpur and DI Khan. All the 40 paintings adorning the walls of the gallery.According to Saira Danish Ahmed art critic and culture writer,water color is a distinct medium where by pigments are suspended in a water soluble medium making the technique not only unique but also challenging for artist.The journey of color watercolor paintings has dominated Asian art from 4000BC to present day. It emerged as a medium used by prominent artist throughout the ages not only in Asia but also gaining a strong foothold in the western world over centuries she added.
She said artists highlighting their subjects the unique effects of light,free brushwork and overlapping washes the artist are successful in creating luminosity and transparency through the medium. They explore both the expressive nature and technical aspects of watercolors to create remarkable art forms thereby sustaining the signature style and continuity of this age long tradition of great relevance.
