Syma Nadeem addresses KEC-Greenwich Seminar as a chief guest

Karachi Editors Club (KEC) in collaboration with Greenwich University organized a seminar ‘Challenges and Opportunities for Pakistan Women’ in connection with International Women’s Day during the reported week.
Syma Nadeem, Member National Assembly was the chief guest while Dr Aliya Imam presided over the seminar. Fizzah Shakil, Qandeel Jafri Mubasher Mir, Mukhtar, Butt, Uzma Alkareem, Asma Tirmizi, Sabahat Bukhari, Iqbal Jamil and Manzar Naqvi were among the speakers of this Seminar.
Syma Nadeem, in her address, lauded the role of Pakistani women and assured them that a lot of opportunities has planned for women by PTI government. She said Prime Minister Imran Khan is very much serious for the development programmes for Pakistan women and President of Pakistan Arif Alvi is also providing opportunities to women in agricultural sector.

Syma said first time in history of Pakistan in the PTI government 12 women are serving as Parliamentary Secretary including her. She said Government is planning to start interest-free small loan to women to promote entrepreneurship among them. She said government is keen to promote our women through Microfinance and SMEs for the development of our country. She said Instead of quota system women employment would be considered on merit basis.
Dr Aliya Imam in her presidential address said that before resolving women issue we should understand women problems actually. She said women is not a product and don’t misuse her. She said only Islam protects woman and we should provide her all basic needs according to Islam and she may be treated equally.
Mubasher Mir, President KEC said that women are playing positive role either she is housewife or a working woman. She builds her family, educates children and cares every one of her family. He said it is wrong concept that witness of woman is half. In Islam her witness is equal and she has equal rights. He said all men should help women in every field of life. He emphasized to provide all opportunities to our women.
Qandeel Jafri an activist and Poetess said all women should support each other in every field of life. She shared her harassment issue in recent AGM of Pakistan Arts Council when in response of asking a question she was beaten and harassed in the presence of Commissioner Karachi but not a single woman came to her help.
Iqbal Jamil, Assistant Professor, Greenwich University appreciated gesture of all speakers and thanked to all valuable guest who participated to highlights positive role of Pakistani women in the development of Pakistan. On behalf of Greenwich University he distributed shields to all speakers of the Seminar.
Karachi Editors Club on this occasion awarded certificate of “Mentor Women in Media” to Sayyidah Fizzah Shakil, Mehnaz Zaidi, Dr Bilqees Seema, Shenaz Ramzi, and Nighat Shamim. “Achiever Women in Media” certificates were awarded to Shumaila Nawaz, Zar Nageen, Khursheed Hyder, Uzma Alkareem, Haseena Jatoi, and Sharmeen Shafique Khan while ‘Emerging Women in Media’ Certificates were presented to Mina Ramzi, Rida Saifee, Alveena Agha, Kokab Farooqui, Samar Nizam, Noreen Shams and Amna Shaikh.

PACC organizes an evening with Asad Jafri

Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) organized an evening with famous and renowned Humorous Poet Asad Jafri during the reported week. Asad Jafri is on Karachi visit since last week. He is Lahore based poet and is most famous in Pakistan and internationally due to his very nice humorous poetry. He was remained very much busy due to various programmes arranged in his honour throughout the week. Renowned intellectuals, poets and journalists like Dr Aliya Imam, Javed Saba, Mukhtar Butt, Iqbal Sehwani, Syed Amjad Shah, Jamil Ahmed Khan, Mubasher Mir, Javed Manzar and Qandeel Jafri address this event arranged by PACC and lauded beautiful personality and poetry of Asad Jafri.
Asad Jafri in his address thanked to all speakers for their thoughts about him and for appreciating his poetry. He also thanked to his lovers, fans and friends who spared their time to spend with him. Asad Jafri also presented his poetry which was largely appreciated by the audience.
On this occasion Riaz Makhdum President PACC, Z.H. Kurrum, President PPEMF, Mubasher Mir President KEC, Syed Naseem Shah of Commonwealth Society and Najamuddin Shaikh on behalf of Arts Forum presented memorable shields to Asad Jafri while Singer Uroosa Ali, Drama Artist Asma Abbas and Singer Jamal Akbar presented bouquets to Asad Jafri. The event was largely attended by the lovers of Asad Jafri.
