3 fathers celebrate Fathers’ Day
Zaheer Quindeel, Associate Professor of Cadet College Hasan Abdal along with his family is on the visit of Karachi for enjoying summer vacation since Eidul Fitr. Quindeel family also celebrated Fathers’ Day on Sunday at Hawks Bay beach in a beautiful hut. At the hut on beach three fathers, Zaheer Quindeel, Manzar Naqvi and Abbas Naqvi (Shani) along with their families celebrated Fathers’ Day. The three fathers cut the Fathers’ Day cake on the demand of their respective children. Hawks Bay beach was on high alert due to recent sea storm; we were provided life guards over there to enjoy heavy and high sea waves which were also crossing the huts.
73rd Anniversary of Italian Republic
The Consulate of Italy in Karachi organized the 73rd Anniversary of the Italian Republic at a local hotel, Karachi. The Chief Guest of the evening was Imran Ismail, Governor Sindh.
The Consul of Italy, Anna Ruffino thanked the participants and appreciated the friendship and closeness of the Pakistani people. She was happy to mention the growing relations between Italy and Pakistan in all sectors.
A day earlier, the Consulate of Italy had also organized the conference “Italy to Pakistan” to celebrate the Italian excellence and the presence of Italian companies in Pakistan. The conference highlighted the Made in Italy products, goods and services in Pakistan and the contribution of local business houses in fostering trade relations between the two countries.
The Consulate of Italy in Karachi has been also actively participating in cultural field. The Consulate had invited various artists, scholars and musicians. Teaching of Italian at Greenwich University and Institute of Business Management was also possible due to the efforts of Italian Consulate in Karachi and now Pakistani students and non-students can also learn Italian at Greenwich University.
Ms. Ruffino also mentioned the collaboration in the archaeological field. The Italian
Archaeological team in Banbhore in collaboration with the department of Culture, Government of Sindh, is carrying out the excavation in Bhanbhore. The teams of Italian and Pakistani archaeologists have achieved great results in the last field season of 2018-2019 with discovery of the “Ivory Workshops”, which are unique in the world. She hoped that this mission will help preserve the wonderful heritage of Sindh and bring forth astounding discoveries, which the people of Sindh will be able to benefit from.
Governor Sindh, Imran Ismail congratulated the Consul General and the Italian community on the occasion of the National Day of Italy. He said that Italy is very close to his heart as he had spent time there and loved the Italian food and weather. He thanked the Consul General for her efforts in bringing both the countries closer and appreciated the role of the Consulate of Italy.
Kesa Ishq
Acclaimed artists of the Qawwali industry, Hamza Akram Qawwal, along with his brothers Taimoor Akram and Abdul Akram, have just released a new Sufi song by the name of ‘Kesa Ishq’. The music video has been shot in New York and features all the three brothers in a contemporary outlook, accompanied by the American model, Whitney Grandell. ‘Kesa Ishq’ is a song about pure love. The lyrics focus on the power of ‘Ishq’ that transcends all differences existent to humankind, including those of cast, creed, and culture. The poetry behind the song is the creation of Tauqeer Bhinder, while the highly spellbinding, contemporary, and filmy music has been produced by DJ Ali Mustafa.
Hamza Akram and his brothers have gained a lot of recognition not just in Pakistan, but worldwide as well with their enthralling improvisation to Sufi music. Belonging to a family of great musicians, and descendants of the first Qawwal of the subcontinent, Mian Samaat Bin Ibrahim, the three brothers exhibit an abundance of talent in their performances. They successfully composed the music for the 2017 Pakistani movie Rangreza, while Hamza Akram’s soundtrack ‘Lover’s Eye’ also landed on BBC Asian Network’s Top 100 Music Chart. With several years of local and international touring experience, Hamza Akram won the award for the Best Emerging Talent in the Lux Style Awards 2017. Qawwal Hamza Akram and Brothers have given a riveting new interpretation to the concept of Qawwali and Sufism with the music video of ‘Kesa Ishq’.
