Behram D. Avari conferred KEC membership

Karachi Editors Club (KEC) held its 17th meeting at Beach Luxury Hotel during the reported week. Behram D. Avari Chairman Avari Group of Hotel was the Chief Guest while Senator Haseeb Khan and legend poet of Pakistan based in Canada Zakia Ghazal were the guests of honour. Behram D. Avari appreciated efforts of KEC and discussed expansion plans of Avari Hotel throughout Pakistan. He also discussed CPEC fruits for Pakistan at length. Senator Haseeb Khan and Zakia Ghazal also appreciated establishment of KEC for individual professional editors. They said it was need of the hour which is filled by the genuine journalists of the City. KEC conferred honorary membership upon Behram D. Avari after the meeting. The meeting was largely attended by editors’ level senior journalists’ from the print and electronic media.

3rd Digital Payments & Innovations Summit 2018

Mahmood Tareen and Ateeq Ur Rehman of The Professional Network (TPN) organized a “3rd Digital Payments & Innovations Summit 2018” during the reported week. It was excellent and meaningful effort towards its subject from the TPN. The summit comprised three sessions with high-tea and lunch break. Zubair Motiwala Vice Chairman, BMG and former President, KCCI was the chief guest on this occasion while Yousuf Hussain CEO, Ignite National Technology Fund, Ateeq Ur Rehman Financial Analyst, Mehmood Tareen CEO, TP, Omar Mohsin (VP, Telenor Pakistan, Jibran Jamshed Microsoft, Shan Xiaoping Head of FSI Business Huawei Pakistan, Yin Xiaohu Executive Vice President, Bank of China, Pakistan Operations and various other addressed the conference on the subject.

Iranian FM Javad Zarif visits Karachi

Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif visited Karachi during his 3-day visit to Pakistan during the reported week. He addressed the opening session of Iran-Pakistan joint business forum arranged by Iranian Consulate Karachi which was largely attended by the top business community, media and government officials. His address to promote bilateral and economic relations between the two countries was much appreciated by the jampacked audience at a local hotel. The forum was also attended and addressed by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Syed Nasir Shah Minister for Information Government of Sindh. Zarif also visited the Mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Irnian Consul General Ahmed Mohammadi, First Consul Khalil ul Rahman and Reza Sultani accompanied Zarif while Mohammad Dashti, Public Diplomacy and Media Consul was actively involved to receiving and facilitating the guests.

Exhibition of Bangladesh Products

Bangladesh Deputy High Commission to Karachi Noor-e-Helal Saifur Rahman and Shabnum Mostari hosted a Bangladeshi Products Exhibition at local hotel during the week. Noor-e-Helal while speaking at the exhibition said 2018 is the year of election in Bangladesh. He said: “The Bangladesh Government is hosting Development Fairs to showcase their achievement of last nine years. There are many to mention. However, I will only focus on some infrastructural projects today.” He said the export earnings in 2016 were 35 billion dollars. Naturally RMG occupied the biggest space here. The export target for the current 2017-2018 financial year is US $ 41 billion.

Fooball game’s activities during the reported week in Lyari brought back the joys to normal in the locality. There were no sports activities in Lyari since a long due to law and order situation. There are 32 teams in Lyari and the tournament brought a new life to the people of Lyari and their faces were glittering with joys. The Sangolain Football Academy Ground was thronged by football lovers.
The Chief Guest Chairman Lyari UC-13 Habib Hassan addressing the audience on the occasion said that soon they will turn Lyari into a peaceful sports centre. He introduced Football, boxing and cycling players and all such famous players from Lyari. The President of Football Club Lyari Foundation’s President Hamza Farooqui thanked the Lyari Rangers Sector Commander for providing security during the event.
Marta Women’s Foot Ball Club founder and President Rais Khan said that they need more Football Club Academies in Karachi, and training of players at grass-roots level so as to bring a good result.
