LADIESFUND Roundtable with South African Miroda Otto

Miroda is a renowned corporate raider turned professional cyclist who flew to Pakistan to meet with dynamic Pakistani women entrepreneurs and professionals during the reported week. During her visit to Karachi, Tara Uzra Daowood, President Dawood Global Foundation and LADIESFUND hosted a LADIESFUND Roundtable meeting with South African Miroda Otto.
Miroda shared her experiences and women issues throughout the world in this LADIESFUND Roundtable meeting arranged in her honour. She also presented her emotional and painful life story before engaging in intense discussion and dialogue.
Tara Uzra Dawood in her welcome address appreciated the gesture of Miroda and thanked her for the participation in LADIESFUND. Informing about the LADIESFUND, she said this Fund was established in 2007 by Dawood Global Foundation (DGF) as an initiative to provide financial security to women and to promote and train women entrepreneurs. Tara Uzra said, “It aims at integrating the entrepreneurial needs based on the economic and social aspects of the local communities, with respect to greater women participation in the workforce.”
At the end of this exclusive LADIESFUND meeting Tara Uzra Dawood presented a memorable crest to Miroda, on this occasion Nazneen Tariq Khan, Shanaz Ramzi, Mubashira Ahmed, Maryam Zaidi, and various other notable women were also attended this event.

122 Urdu film released in Pakistan

ABA Associates Private Limited, distributor of the Egyptian movie, 122, dubbed in Urdu, has released the movie with great fanfare at a local multiplex here during the reported week, for public exhibition in all cinemas across the country.
The movie was well-received by the stars, media representatives and socialites attending the exclusive screening programme, with everyone raving about the stellar performances given by the international actors, and the mind-blowing plot and storyline that kept the viewers glued to their seats.
The plot revolves around a couple that gets embroiled in an unfortunate incident only to find itself in even more danger when they reach out for help. Their only aim is to survive the night and escape in one piece. The movie is an embodiment of adventure, suspense, action, thrill, and eternal love.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali Chaudhry CEO ABA Associates said, “I am really excited to have been instrumental in opening the doors for Arabic films to find a market here as their culture is similar to ours, and hopefully this will just be the beginning of a relationship that will be advantageous to both. I am overwhelmed by the response 122 has received.”
The eminent cast of 122 includes Tarek Lotfi, Ahmed Daoud, Amina Khalil, Ahmed Al-Fishawi, Mohammad Lutfi, Jihane Khalil, Mohammed Mamdouh and many more. The movie is produced by Saif Oraibi, written by Salah Al Gehiny, while the editor is Amr Akef, DOP is Ahmed Kardous and line producer is Mohamed Nassar.
This movie is the first step towards building stronger relations with UAE and Egypt, which are looking forward to bringing more of their movies to our cinemas and furthering ties between our countries.

Rais briefs about Marta Women Football Club

Marta Women Football Club founder & President Rais Khan met with the President of Pakistan Football Federation Engineer Ashfaq Hussain during his visit to Quaid’s city at a local hotel during the reported week. The discussion took place for the promotion of Football game.
During the meeting Rais Khan briefed to the PFF President Ashfaq Hussain that ten years back despite odds, the club was formed to promote the women’s football game, and through this effort from grass route level women football players are being trained by prominent coaches, and tournaments are being held to further promote the football game and give a chance to women players to display their talents and qualities in respect of the football game.
At the same time lectures and seminars are also organized for the purpose. On this occasion Ashfaq Hussain said that the efforts made through Marta Women’s Football Club for the promotion of the women’s football game is highly appreciated and commendable. Through PFF we will promote the women’s football game along with the boys. Throughout the Country including Karachi events will be organized.
Rais khan further said that despite limited resources we are actively engaged to promote the women’s football game and soon a mega football event will be organized in which various teams from various cities will participate including Karachi.
