National Finance Olympiad 2018, needs to improve next NFO
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) in collaboration with Unilever Pakistan organized National Finance Olympiad (NFO) 2018 during the reported week. Total 40 teams from the corporate and institutions participated in this three-level NFO 2018. In first step 15 teams qualified for 2nd level and from 2nd level, 6 teams were qualified for final round. The final competition kicked off with a quick introduction of the teams followed by the Debate Round which was judged by a panel of distinguished judges, namely; Fakir Syed Aijazuddin, Rahila Narejo and Asif Saad.
After the first debate round the second and last round of the competition was the Buzzer Round, which tested the agility and technical knowledge of all finalist teams. This Buzzer round mismanaged badly due to failure of technical problems, later it was arranged manually and asked the competitors the loudly say “Pakka Pakka” for replying questions after displaying at main screen. This system was not suitable for various candidates who were not habitual of shouting, while various candidates raise their hands which were not considered.
In the next year in organization of NFO 2019 for the transparency ICAP should consider to provide equal opportunity to all teams without manual shouting for answers or Buzzer, they should asked equal questions to all candidates to keep this unique annually National Finance Olympiad a transparent competition.
After the evaluation of the debate and arguments put forth by the teams, the judges evaluated each team’s performance and the results were announced; Professional Academy of Commerce (PAC) claimed victory while EY Ford Rhodes and Lone Rangers Dubai became the 1st and 2nd Runner-up respectively. The winning team was awarded a majestic Champions Trophy, Mac Book Air and shields for each of the three team members. Whereas, the 1st Runner-up Team received iPhone6s along with shields and the 2nd Runner-up team received iPads and shields for all team members. Certificates were also awarded to all the finalist teams.
Aaghosh Talent Awards 2018
In connection with World Disable Day, Aaghosh Trust Organized its Annual Awards ceremony for the year 2018, “Aaghosh Talent Awards 2018” for un-assisted handicapped ladies and senior women organized at local hotel during the reported week. Famous Business Community and Philanthropists like Haji Masood Parekh, M. Yahya Polani, Ateeq Ur Rehman, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Shakil Baig, Kamran Chandna, Nadeem Wassani, Dr. Kausar and various other notable elites of the city attended this prestigious ceremony.
Chief Guest on this occasion, Sindh Minister for Women Development Syeda Shehla Raza who was inspired very much by the services of Aagosh Trust, has offered her full support and assistance to the Trust and assured her all best efforts for the allocating proper place for the trust. Shehla in her address also requested to Iftikhar Ali Shallwani, Commissioner Karachi to allot any ghost school building to the Aaghosh Trust. Shehla urged upon the Philanthropists to come forward and join hands of the Government to welfare of the differently abled persons for their proper rehabilitation through their look after and attention properly as they are capable and talented one
Iftikhar Shallwani, Senator Haseeb Ahmed Khan, Haji Masood Parekh, Yahya Polani, Shakil Baig, Atteq Ur Rehman and various other speakers appreciated the services for Aaghosh especially for the shelterless women. Shagufta Saba President, Shehla Raza Vice President and M. Jazib General Secretary of the Aaghosh Trust highlighted the services being rendered by the Trust and request to public, especially philanthropists to joins hand for this noble cause.
