Mubasher Mir chief guest at KPC event

Literary Committee of Karachi Press Club (KPC) organized its meeting during the reported week. Mubasher Mir President Karachi Editors Club (KEC) was the chief guest on this occasion while Shadab Ehsani ex-chairman Urdu Department Karachi University, Zahid Hussain, Rizwan Siddiqui, Faheem Shahnaz Kazmi, Hanif Abid were addressed as Guest Speakers on this occasion.
Mubasher Mir, in his address on the occasion, emphasising on education said that at this time education is most profitable business throughout the world including Pakistan. He said various Pakistani students are getting education in foreign universities. He said government should focus on education and making it available to every student, especially those brilliant students who cannot afford it. He said Pakistan can be included in the list of developed country through focusing on education in Pakistan.
He asked where we stand after passing 72 years of establishment of Pakistan. He said the speech delivered by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on 11th August 1947 was very important and was complete solution of our problems, but we have ignored this line of direction.
Mubasher said politicians failed in developing Pakistan and they could not give at least a slogan for the solidarity and unity, but even the slogan “Pakistan First” is given to us by a dictator General Pervez Musharraf in his era.
Mubasher Mir said after the 2nd World War all wars were fought in the East while the West always sell its weapons to the East for boosting war in this region. For the selling weapons the West’s slogan is weapons should be for peace. Now the West is enjoying every facility including education, life style and financial freedom.
He emphasized that wars in future, especially in the East, should be avoided. Peace and development should be promoted in this region. He said democracy in Pakistan is still far away but we are exercising our efforts for democracy. He said the government should treat all nations equally and provide justice to all. He also mentioned his Japan visit where he visited a newly developed city Osaka, where people have big eyes and big heights and the speak English frequently. He said this city looks like a city of USA or a part of modern world. We should go on this pattern, he added.

 PiFF 2019 kicks off

The second edition of Pakistan International Film Festival, held under the banner of Karachi Film Society kicked off with special screenings of Bilal – A New Breed Hero, Earth Heroes, Quaid Say Batain and Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor, and a seminar on the “Potential of Animation in Pakistan”.
Special screenings of the animated movies were organized for the underprivileged students from various parts of the city. Participating schools included JS Academy for the Deaf, Tadrees, Karachi Schools’ Guide and the Young Patriots School. DG Rangers Sindh Major General Umar Bukhari and President KFS Sultana Siddiqui attended the screenings held at the Capri Cinema in Karachi and appreciated the kids’ enthusiasm to participate in creative activities. They also encouraged the kids to pursue their dreams. DG Rangers said children should dream of becoming whatever they want to in the future and it was his wish that one day one of the students might become a DG Ranger or a good filmmaker and be able to show his film to kids like them. He also appreciated the efforts of KFS in organizing such activities and giving young people the incentive to become something in life.
Seminar on the ‘Potential of Animation in Pakistan – Challenges & Opportunities’discussed the issues and challenges faced by the animation industry of Pakistan. Chief guest of the seminar was Murtaza Wahab, Advisor to Chief Minister of Sindh on Law, Anti-corruption, Establishment and Information.

Samir gets Top CEO of the Year Award

Samir Mir Shaikh received Top CEO of the Year 2019 award from Provincial Minister Industries, Commerce & Cooperation Govt of Sindh Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, on this occasion Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui was also present at the 14th Consumer Awards Ceremony held at a local hotel during the reported week.
Samir is a renowned industrialist and known Philantropist who is well-associated with Trade bodies of Pakistan and is CEO of SMS Electrics and Shaikh Holdings Inc. He also holds the esteemed position of All-Pakistan Chairman of Education, Science & Technology FPCCI.
The 14 Consumer Awards ceremony held by Chairman, Consumer Association of Pakistan (CAP) Kokub Iqbal was largely attended but mismanaged. Above 100 awards of different 4 categories were distributed among the personalities of different walk of lives. Notable dignitaries from corporate sector and media including diplomats based at Karachi attended this crowded awards distribution ceremony.
