KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that 449 scheme of Annual Development Plan (ADP) of Rs40.6 billion are in going on in the city and 11 new schemes worth Rs7 billion are being launched to make Karachi more beautiful, impressive and livable city.
This he said while presiding over a meeting to review the progress of on-going scheme and discuss new proposed schemes. The meeting was attended by Minister Local Government Syed Nasir Shah, Advisor to CM Murtaza Wahab, Chairman P&D Mohammad Waseem, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Secretary Local Government Roshan Shaikh, DG KDA, MD Water Board Asadullah Khan, PD Karachi Package Khalid Masroor.
Briefing the chief minister local government minister Syed Nasir Shah said that 11 new schemes have been identified on the pointation of the chief minister.
They include construction of Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan from Abdullah College to Qalandria Chowk, Shahjehan Avenue from water pump to Qalandria Chowk, including restoration of storm water drain, flyover at Safoora Chowk, bridge at Jauhar Chowrangi, road from Grex village to Y-junction, including construction of storm water drain, construction of Syed Rais
Ahmed Jaferi Road from Peoples Chowrangi to Bank, including storm water drain, underpass at Stargate, two-lane bridge at Garden Road, underpass at Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road at National Stadium, construction of roads surrounding the Supreme Court, renovation of Empress market, including greenery, fixation of broken glasses, restoration of old stones, repair of clock and lighting effects around the market. Renovation and installation of lighting effects on Church were also discussed and approved in principle.
The chief minister directed the Chairman P&D, Secretary Local Government and PD Karachi package to sit together and prepare schemes so that they could be approved in time and launched at the earliest. These schemes may cost around Rs7 billion.
The Chief Minister said that he has released Rs15.14 billion against 449 on-going schemes of Rs40.6 billion under Karachi Package. Expressing his displeasure, the chief minister said that against the releases of Rs15 billion only Rs7.1 billion have been utilized. -NNI
