New Visa Policy yielding positive results, says FM

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says new visa policy is yielding positive results.
Chairing a meeting to review foreign policy challenges and progress in the desired objectives in Islamabad on Thursday, he said promotion of cultural diplomacy has brought significant improvement in tourism sector.
The Minister stressed the need for making economic diplomacy effective to bring foreign investment to the country.
He said all the Pakistani embassies have been given clear instructions for welfare of the overseas Pakistanis and immediate redressal of their problems.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Consular Section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been digitized so that people could be fully facilitated in attestation of their documents.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has stressed for an effective economic diplomacy to attract foreign investment.
Qureshi was chairing a meeting in Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday to review foreign policy challenges and progress in the desired objectives.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Secretary Suhail Mehmood and other senior officials of the foreign office.

Earlier, the foreign minister and Minister of Interior Aijaz Shah held a meeting in which the issuance of e-visa and the situation of internal security were discussed.
The two ministers agreed to make the immigration process easy and effective for the overseas Pakistanis.
Foreign Minister Qureshi said that the issuance of on-line visa will facilitate people to visit Pakistan and also address inconvenience to the people intending to invest in the country.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Thursday.
The MQM-P delegation led by its convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui met Shah Mehmood Qureshi at Foreign Minister’s Chamber of Parliament House today.
The high-ups exchanged views on mutual coordination among the coalition partners besides holding discussions on the current political scenario of the country.
Earlier in the day, the foreign minister held a meeting with Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmed Shah where they discussed the issuance of e-visa and matters related to internal security.
During the meeting, Qureshi said that the investors and tourists will be benefitted most by online visa services. Both ministers have agreed to make the immigration process for expatriates easier and effective.
The foreign minister said that the ministry was in contact with Saudi interior ministry’s officials for early return of 2,107 Pakistanis imprisoned in different jails of the Saudi Arabia. – NNI
