Pakistan Navy’s ship ‘Taimur’ commissioned in China

The Hudong Zhonghua shipyard in China launched the Pakistan Navy vessel “Taimur,” the second of the four Type 054 A/P Frigates.

According to a formal announcement made public on Thursday, Commodore Rashid Mehmood Sheikh, the commander of the Pakistan Navy Mission in China, attended the ceremony as the main guest.

Taimur is a highly powerful and technologically advanced marine asset with electronic warfare capabilities, cutting-edge combat management, and cutting-edge weapons and sensors, according to the communiqué.

These ships, it was added, will enable the Pakistan Navy to handle fresh difficulties in maritime security and upholding regional stability.

Commodore Rashid emphasised in his remarks that the acquisition of the modern frigates will significantly increase the Pakistan Navy’s capacity to strengthen the defence of maritime borders.

He lauded the joint efforts of the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC), China Ship Development & Design Center (CSDDC), HZ Shipyard, and PLA for their “landmark achievement and timely delivery of the well-equipped and potent frigate” (Navy).

The commander of the Pakistan Navy Mission gave the Command Scroll to Commanding Officer PNS Taimur at the commissioning ceremony in China.

The deputy director general of China’s military products department emphasised later in his address that China and Pakistan are aware of the altering geopolitical landscape and are taking serious action to meet the new commitments and emerging obstacles together.

The commander of the Pakistan Navy Mission gave the Command Scroll to Commanding Officer PNS Taimur at the commissioning ceremony in China. He emphasised how important it is for regional peace and security that the two countries’ friendship. At the event, senior officials from BOMETEC, OIMC, SASTIND, PLA (N), and CSSC were present, along with the chairmen of CSTC and HZ Shipyard and prominent members of the Pakistani community in China.

The first, PNS TUGHRIL, entered the PN Fleet in January 2022, and two other 054 A/P Frigates of the same class are now being constructed in China.
