PGCW holds National Songs' competition

RAWALPINDI: Nazria Pakistan Society of Govt. Post-Graduate College for Women, Satellite Town Rawalpindi arranged National Songs’ competition to pay tribute to the martyrs of the country on the Defence Day of Pakistan observed throughout the country Thursday.
Principal of the Post-Graduate College for Women, Satellite Town, Prof. Dr. Alia Sohail Khan warmly and senior academic staff of the College and the Sub-Campus welcomed the guests of honour Mrs. Major Akbar Awan Shaheed and Mrs. Major Ishaq Shaheed. They were presented bouquets on their arrival as a goodwill gesture.
The commencement of the event began with recitation of Holy Verses of Quran, followed by the Naat Rasool-Maqbool and national anthem.
Different tableaus were presented by the students to portray the message of patriotism.
After the performances, Mrs. Major Akbar Awan Shaheed was invited on stage to express her feelings about her husband’s journey of life. Mrs. Major Ishaq Shaheed too shared her sentiments about her husband’s sacrifice. Their speeches were motivational for the students who participated in the event in a large number.
Daughter of Major Akbar Shaheed delivered a short yet patriotic speech and showed how determined she is to follow her father’s footsteps.
At the end of the event, Principal Dr. Aliya Sohail addressed the students and thanks the guests of honour for gracing the occasion with their presence.
