LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to take immediate steps to provide relief to people, control inflation and take action against hoarders.
He was speaking during a briefing in Lahore on Thursday.
Punjab Chief Minister’s Advisor Dr. Salman Shah briefed the Prime Minister about the government’s measures and future strategy for socio-economic development and promotion of agriculture and industrial sectors in the province.
The Punjab Chief Minister was also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday appreciated International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) decision of not acquitting, releasing and returning spy Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav to India.
In a tweet, the premier stated, “He (Kulbhushan Jadhav) is guilty of crimes against the people of Pakistan. Pakistan shall proceed further as per law.”
On July 17, the ICJ had rejected remedies sought by India, including annulment of military court decision convicting Kulbhushan Jadhav, his release and safe passage to India.
Announcing the verdict Judge Abdulqavi Ahmed Yousaf told Pakistan to review the death sentence for an alleged Indian spy, saying Islamabad violated his rights to consular visits.
The judge remarked that Pakistan and India are signatories of the Vienna Convention
“A continued stay of execution constitutes an indispensable condition for the effective review and reconsideration of the conviction and sentence of Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav,” it ruled.
The court while finding Jadhav guilty of committing terrorist activities inside Pakistan, ordered that the Indian spy cannot be handed over to India and will remain in Pakistan’s custody.
The Indian navy officer was arrested in Pakistan’s province of Balochistan in March 2016. On March 25 2016, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released his confessional statement of Jadhav in which he claimed to be a serving Indian Navy officer.
Meanwhile, in a bid to cut expenses, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to travel the United States by private airline instead of using special aircraft.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Naeemul Haque took to twitter saying, “PM Imran Khan will fly to Washington by private airline.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan during a media talk in Karachi announced that PM Imran Khan will use a small aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force instead of Pakistan International Airline’s plane for his upcoming visit to the United States.
On the invitation of President Donald J. Trump, PM Khan will embark on a visit to the US on July 21.
The prime minister will meet President Trump at the White House on July 22 to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional matters.
The PM’s US visit would be the first summit-level engagement between Pakistan and the United States since both leaders assumed their respective offices.
Meanwhile, Prime Minster of Pakistan Imran Khan on Thursday met Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. The Prime Minister was briefed on development projects under way in the province by the Governor and was also apprised with the performance of provincial ministers.
In his last visit, the prime minister chaired a consultative meeting of the PTI’s elected representatives of Punjab and got a briefing on the development program.
Prime Minister also met Chief Minister Punjab Usman Khan Buzdar to discuss pivotal matters.
The Prime Minister was briefed on development projects underway in the province by the Chief Minister and was also apprised with the performance of provincial ministers.
