PM Khan calls for revisiting master plan of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed for revisiting the master plan of Islamabad keeping in view the ground realities and increase in its population.
He was chairing a meeting regarding the master plan of the federal capital in Islamabad on Friday.
The Prime Minister stated that in the interim period, sub rules should immediately be framed for the protection of the capital’s green areas and regularizes the construction activities.
Imran Khan noted that work is in progress to provide better residential facilities to the dwellers of slums in Islamabad under Naya Pakistan Housing Project. He said the aim is to provide them better civic facilities and improve their standards of living.
Imran Khan regretted that problems relating to increase in population, expansion of the city and its better management were totally ignored in the past. He said this resulted in extinction of green areas and irregular construction.
The Chairman CDA briefed the Prime Minister about the plantation campaign started in the capital.
Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday and deliberated overall situation of Sindh province.
They especially discussed the problems faced by the people of Karachi in the wake of recent rains and measures to address them.
A senior political Ali Gohar Mehr also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed the problems faced by the people of interior Sindh.
Member Punjab Assembly Aleem Khan also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Friday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has underscored the need to highlight the tourist places of Pakistan at international level while focusing on provision of world class facilities to the tourists.
He was chairing the meeting of Task Force on tourism in Islamabad on Friday.
The Prime Minister said there are numerous opportunities of promoting tourism in the country.
Imran Khan said during establishment of tourist zones and their development, special care should be taken not to disturb the natural beauty and environment of the area.
He directed to compile the relevant laws as soon as possible.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on efforts to highlight the tourism potential of the country at international level and the progress being made in provision of facilities to tourists.
Prime Minister was also apprised of the performance of National Tourism Coordination Board and its various working groups. It was informed that a national tourism strategy has been constituted.
The meeting was also informed about promotion of religious tourism, particularly the arrival of members of Sikh community on 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and arrangements in this regard.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed confidence on the abilities of Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani and hoped he will continue dispensing his duties in an efficient manner like previously.
He was talking to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani who called on him in Islamabad on Friday.
The Prime Minister said the full confidence of Senate members on the leadership of Sadiq Sanjrani is a confirmation of his leadership, skills and running the affairs of Senate smoothly.
Imran Khan also congratulated Sadiq Sanjrani on achieving the confidence of Upper House of the Parliament.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over a meeting of the federal cabinet on August 6 (Tuesday).
A 12-point agenda will come under discussion in the meeting to be held at the Prime Minister’s Office in the capital.
The agenda includes discussion on proposals for new public interest initiatives, and construction of high-rise buildings in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Multan. It will also grant approval for renewal of licence of a private charter jet operator in the country.
Removal of the chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Fertilizer Corporation (NFC) and approval of Draft Pakistan Allied Health Professional & Paramedics Council Act 2019 are also part of the agenda.
The cabinet will get a detailed briefing on the Ehsaas programme and performance of the Ministry of Communication for a period between August 2018 and July 2019.
It will also give a go-ahead to a piece of legislation for the establishment of Federal Institute of Hyderabad in principle. – NNI
