KARACHI: On International Olympic Day celebrations, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and Karachi Sports Foundation (KSF) jointly hold an Olympic Day event at KMC Sports Complex, Wednesday, says a Press release.
Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed, Secretary-General Pakistan Olympic Association Khalid Mahmood, Grand Master Ashraf Tai, Governor Rotary International Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah, Senior Director Coordination KMC Khalid Khan, Finance Secretary POA Muhammad Shafiq, Olympic Day Focal Person Tehmina Asif, SOA Secretary Ahmed Ali Rajput, Chairman Karachi Sports Foundation Asif Azeem, President Syed Waseem Hashmi, and other personalities were present.
Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed said that Olympic Games are an ancient multi-sports tradition and it commenced in Greece. The purpose to celebrate International Olympic Day is to highlight the importance of sports and health-based activities.
This year’s Olympic theme is Health, Strong, and staying active; Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed congratulated POA & KSF for conducting Olympic Day events and further said that the gamble of matter why many provincial and federal sports associations’ personalities are present today is that we want to see sports flourish in our city.
KMC Sports Complex will be furnishing especially for Olympic sports so athletes could train themselves for it. POA Secretary General Khalid Mahmood said that the Metropolitan of Pakistan’s biggest city Karachi participating in Olympic Day celebrations is a pride for us. Karachi has loads of talent; in the future as well we will collaborate with Karachi Metropolitan to organize sports events.
Governor Rotary International Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah stated Essa Laboratories will always come in front to support sports establishment in the country; these activities will display a positive image of our country to the world.
At this moment, POA Secretary General Khalid Mahmood presented POA’s memento the Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed, as a souvenir.
