Shan Masood Stresses Need to Back Players Ahead of Pakistan-England Test Series

As Pakistan gears up for the upcoming three-match Test series against England, set to begin on October 7 at the Multan Cricket Stadium, red-ball captain Shan Masood emphasized the importance of supporting the players in order to progress. Addressing a press conference, Masood urged the cricketing community to avoid making reactionary changes after a loss, advocating instead for a consistent approach to backing the team.

Focus on Fitness and Team Morale Following Recent Setbacks

Reflecting on the team’s recent performances, Masood expressed regret over missed opportunities in matches against Bangladesh. He stressed the need for Pakistan to improve both mentally and physically to compete with top cricketing nations, highlighting the significance of fitness in Test cricket. The captain acknowledged the difficulties of leadership, particularly in the wake of defeat, but remained hopeful for better results in the upcoming series.

Team Selection and Return of Key Players

Masood noted that the squad for the first Test was selected based on player fitness, with Aamir Jamal making his return from injury. He also mentioned that Zahid Mahmood would join the pre-test camp in Multan, although the squad would be trimmed to 15 players before the first Test. Masood concluded by recognizing the pressures of professional cricket and the team’s commitment to turning things around in the World Test Championship series.
