Students convention at Modernage College

ABBOTTABAD: The 11th National Convention on Students Quality Circles has commenced at Modernage Girls College, Abbottabad. A large number of educationists, scholars, teachers and students from different parts of the country, including international delegates from Germany, Italy, China and New Zealand, attended the inauguration ceremony held early Friday morning.
The event was formally inaugurated by the chief guest Roland K. Jahnke, President Global Sustainable Excellence Concepts, Germany. He was accompanied by Dr. Lawrence Burke, Chief Education Advisor, Beaconhouse Group, Lahore, Prof. Matteo Burioni, Manager for Exchange Programme, Universita’ Popolare di Prato, Italy, Prof. Ferro Allesandro, Vice Principal of the International Institute for Education and Cultural Mediation, Prato, Italy, Abdul Wahid Mir, Director General of EUIP-Pakistan and Sumeera Wahid, the Executive Director. The inauguration ceremony was jazzed up by the stunning band performance of the students of Modernage.
Meanwhile, the stream-wise competitions of Debate, Quiz, Paper Presentation, Collaborative Collage, Game Development, Radio Jockeying, 60-sec Film Making and Best Practice Award will continue at the different venues of Girls Campus. Similarly, students will present case studies on various issues during the event. A few sideline sessions are also arranged by the organizers.
The opening session of the convention featured keynote address of Dr. Lawrence Burke who spoke about the significance of global citizenship in the modern era. The morning session also included screening of a film created by Roland K. Jahnke about the breakthroughs of EQUIP-Pakistan since its inception. He also appreciated the growing culture of student empowerment in Pakistan through initiation of SQCs in schools and colleges.
In his concluding remarks, the Director General of EQUIP-Pakistan Abdul Wahid Mir welcomed all the distinguished guests from across Pakistan and abroad. He vowed to continue his struggle for promoting quality education in the country.
Earlier, Fayyaz Ahmad, Regional Director EQUIP-Pakistan (KP Chapter) delivered a welcome address on the occasion.
The day one of the convention will conclude with a cultural evening which will be attended by the Sri Lankan High Commissioner Noordeen Mohamed Shaheid and other notables.
