Staying In Mina and shaving the head: After completing the sacrificial rites, Rasulullah S.A.W called for a barber who then shaved the blessed head of Rasulullah S.A.W, trimmed his nails, and removed the hair surrounding his blessed lips and on his blessed cheeks. Thereafter, Rasulullah S.A.W divided the hair, giving one side to Hadhrat Abu Talha R.A exclusively and instructing the distribution of the other side among the gathered people, as mentioned in Sahih Muslim.
He pointed his right side to the barber and said, “Shave from here”. Then he pointed his left side and said, “Take (hair) from here”. Then he distributed his hair among the people.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1305, pg. 514)
Sayyiduna Anas Ibn Malik R.A narrates: When Allah’s Messenger S.A.W completed the rites of throwing pebbles at the Jamaraat and slaughtered the sacrificial animals, he turned (the right side) of his head towards the barber, and he shaved it. He then called Abu Talha al-Ansari R.A and gave it to him. He then turned his left side and asked him (the barber) to shave. And he (the barber) shaved it and gave it to Abu Talha. Abu Talha, upon receiving the hair, was directed by Rasulullah S.A.W to divide it among the people.(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1305, pg. 514)
Furthermore, Rasulullah S.A.W supplicated thrice for those who shave their heads and once for those who only trim their hair.
Tawaf Ziyaarah
After preparing himself, by wearing his best garment and applying perfume, Rasulullah S.A.W rode to Makkah Mukarramah on the same day, a Saturday, before the Zuhr prayer.
He performed Tawaful Ziyaarah while riding his mount. After completing the Tawaf he approached the well of Zamzam. The tribe of Abdul Muttalib were drawing water and Rasulullah S.A.W said to them:
‘Draw me some water, O Banu ‘Abdul-Muttalib. Were it not that the people would overpower you (and take this privilege from you), I would have drawn water with you.’ (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1218, Pg. 485)
They offered a bowl of water to Rasulullah S.A.W, who drank from it while standing. Subsequently, Rasulullah S.A.W returned to Mina where he performed the Zuhr prayer.
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1308, Pg. 516)
Rasulullah S.A.W also spent the night in Mina.
The days of Tashreeq and the pelting of the Jamaraat
On the 11th of Dhu Hijjah, Rasulullah S.A.W waited until the sun had passed its zenith before proceeding on foot towards the Jamaraat. He stoned the first Jamarah, prayed for a long time; he supplicated for the duration that Surah Baqarah would be recited, repeated the ritual with the second Jamarah, but did not supplicate or wait after stoning the third Jamarah. During the days of Tashreeq, he stayed in Mina and, as recorded in Sahih Bukhari, he would complete the rite of pelting the Jamaraat when the sun had passed its zenith.
Ibn Umar R.A narrates: We would be waiting and when the sun had passed its zenith, we would pelt the Jamaraat. (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 1659, Pg. 621)
According to a narration by Hadhrat Jabir R.A: Rasulullah S.A.W stoned the Jamaraat on the Day of Sacrifice in the forenoon, and after the Day of Sacrifice he stoned (the Jamaraat) when the sun had passed its zenith”. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1299, pg. 513)
Staying in Mina and visiting the Baitullah
While staying in Mina, Rasulullah S.A.W would travel to Makkah every night to perform Ziyaarah (to visit) the Sacred House of Allah. Ibn Abbas R.A narrates in Sahih al-Bukhari:
Rasulullah S.A.W regularly visited the Baitullah during the days of Mina. (Sahih Bukhari, Pg. 617)
