Consistency in the policies essential for completion of CPEC: Dr Qibla Ayaz

PESHAWAR: Chairman, Islamic Ideology (CII), Dr Qibla Ayaz has stressed need for consistency in policies regarding China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to take maximum benefits of the project, says a Press release.
He was addressing a seminar on ‘Sino-Pakistan Relations-The New Avenues’ organized by PCFA, KP held here at China Study Centre of the University of Peshawar (UoP). Besides, Pro Vice Chancellor UoP, Dr Mohammad Saleem, Director CSC, and Secretary General Pakistan China Friendship Association KP Chapter, Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, a larger number of students also attended the seminar organized by Dr Qibla Ayaz had recently headed the visit of a delegation of 20 Pakistani religious clerics to the People’s Republic of China. Prominent members of the delegation were included Maulana Mohammad Tayyab (Swabi), Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani (JUI-F) and Qazi Asif Luqman (the son of the late Qazi Hussain Ahmad).
During their stay in China, the members of the delegation have had visited Beijing, Gulain and Xinjiang Region Capital City and Urumqi, where they met Muslims and also offered Friday prayers at Masajid. The members of the delegation have had also visited an Islamic Centre at Urumqi, beside getting briefing from the Uyghur Muslims.
He said that there is no restriction on Muslims to worship and they enjoy freedom of performing religious obligations. He urged the Muslim population of China to adjust themselves in their system and play active role in the politics of their country saying quoting a phrase ‘absent is always wrong’.
The chairman, Council of Islamic Ideology said that for the success of the CPEC, the maintenance of peace in Gilgit and Hazara regions of Pakistan is essential. He also stressed need for inter-sect harmony in the country to complete this project of economic progress and development.
In response to the questions of the students, he said that the People’s Republic of China is playing active role in the global politics, saying the establishment of peace between the two Islamic rival states the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Republic of Iran is the ample proof in this regard.
Similarly, he said that China is also utilizing its good offices for brokering peace between Yemen and Saudi Arabia and has become first country of the world, which has posted full-pledge ambassador in Afghanistan.
He said that the government of Pakistan should also frame long-term foreign policy, which should not be changed with the change of the government as CPEC is long period project and consistency in policy is must for it.
Earlier welcoming the Chief Guest, Syed Ali Nawaz Gilani, Secretory General Pakistan-China Friendship Association, KP Chapter in his speech said that Pakistan and China Relations have strengthened with the passage of time. China is now Rising and Shining across the globe due to its systems and a great lesson to learn which is the need of the hour. Traditionally the relations with China are very old. Peshawar- Urumqi and Abbottabad-Kashgar have been sister cities since 1985 and 2007 respectively. The relations between Pakistan and China today are at a high peak and we expect that both countries will continue supporting each other and will work for the progress of the people. hesaid.
Prof. Dr. Kausar Takreem, Coordinator, China Study Center, University of Peshawar while welcoming Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Pro Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar, Deans, Faculty members, students, and government officials to the seminar, said that China-Pakistan relations are based on mutual trust and benefits. The province of Xinjiang is strategically significant to China because it has the largest oil deposits. She also emphasizes that Chinese authorities are promoting the harmonious coexistence of all the ethnic groups in the large family of the Chinese nation, protecting freedom of religious belief by the law and closely promoting the high-quality economic and social development of People’s livelihood.
