ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser has emphasised on timely completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) related projects, which will usher in an era of prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He was chairing a high-level meeting in the federal capital on Friday regarding timely completion of CPEC-related projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The speaker said CPEC would open new avenues of prosperity and economic stability all over the country especially in KP.
He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project is a win-win project of China-Pakistan economic cooperation. He said besides diversifying Chinese supply lines CPEC will prove to be a catalyst for socio-economic development of Pakistan.
He said that CPEC is a game changer project not only for Pakistan, but also for the entire region, based on the idea of shared development. He said that CPEC is a manifestation of China’s special relationship with Pakistan.
The speaker said that CPEC has made remarkable progress in the first phase. He said the majority of the projects planned in the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors have been carried out successfully and many are in the execution stage. He said the second stage will further focus on industrialization, agriculture, modernisation and socio-economic development.
The participants unanimously discussed that the Rashakai Economic Zone be inaugurated soon. Matters pertaining to Dera Ismail Khan Economic Zone were also discussed in the meeting and DI Economic Zone was transformed into a special industrial Zone. The meeting also discussed the Peshawar Circular Railway project in detail.
A steering committee under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak was formulated to oversee the work on Chashma Right Bank Canal, Chak Dara Highway, DI Khan motorway, and Peshawar Circular Railway projects. – TLTP
