I used some harsh words, I take them back’: Shahzaib Rind after PM awards Rs5m cheque

“I appreciate the Prime Minister for his quick action, personal apology, and for resolving the matter with dignity”

Pakistani mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Shahzaib Rind has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for awarding a Rs5 million cheque.

In a post on X, Rind said: “Out of frustration, I used some harsh words — I take them back. I appreciate the Prime Minister for his quick action, personal apology, and for resolving the matter with dignity.”

“Back home, my father and brother were invited to the Prime Minister’s house and received a 5 million PKR cheque on my behalf. As an athlete representing Pakistan, all I’ve ever wanted is fair recognition for all sports and fighters. Thank you for honoring my efforts and showing respect to the sport.”

Earlier today, PM Shehbaz awarded a cheque of Rs5 million to Rind’s father Khair Muhammad at the Prime Minister’s House.

This development followed a video statement by Shahzaib Rind, in which the Karate World Champion celebrated his third consecutive victory in the KC Lightweight World Championship, dedicating the achievement to the nation.
However, he also expressed disappointment that his accomplishments had gone unrecognised by the government, which failed to fulfill financial commitments previously made to him.
