ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, on Thursday nominated two District and Sessions Judges (DSJs) and 10 lawyers for their appointment as additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC).

The nominations were made with the majority consensus of the commission.
Extension for SHC Constitutional Bench Judges
The commission also approved a six-month extension for the tenure of judges serving on the Constitutional Bench of the Sindh High Court.
Committees for Key Judicial Appointments
In a bid to ensure transparency and meritocracy in judicial appointments, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi has established dedicated committees to oversee the selection process for critical positions, including secretaries of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, Judicial Commission of Pakistan, and Supreme Judicial Council.
- Law and Justice Commission Secretary Selection Committee:
- Chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
- Members: Justice Ayesha Malik and Justice Shahid Waheed.
- Judicial Commission of Pakistan Secretary Selection Committee:
- Members: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, and the Attorney General for Pakistan.
- Supreme Judicial Council Secretary Selection Committee:
- Members: Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, and the Attorney General for Pakistan.
The committees will conduct interviews of candidates nominated by the chief justices of the five High Courts and the Chief Secretaries of the provinces.
