Karate Champion Shahzeb Rind expresses disappointment over unfulfilled govt promises

 

Shahzeb said that the financial pledges made by government officials were never honoured.

Pakistani martial artist and world champion Shahzeb Rind expressed disappointment over the government’s failure to deliver on financial commitments promised by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In a post on X, Shahzeb responded to a sports journalist who questioned why the government continues to ignore the celebrated athlete, noting that he deserves “respect and appreciation.”

Shahzeb used the opportunity to call out unfulfilled promises, saying that the financial pledges made by government officials were never honoured.

“Our politicians are corrupt. Last time I won, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a cash prize of Rs5 million and Rs80 million to support my training camp and upcoming fights. It was all a lie. I never received a penny from them. They just take pictures, make fake promises, and forget. Shame,” he wrote in his post.

He also tagged the Director General of ISPR, the Pakistan Army’s media wing.
Recently Shahzeb won the KC Lightweight World Championship after defeating Brazil’s Luis Rocha at the Karate Combat 56 (KC 56) event.

He Defeated three-time world champion Edgars Skrivers in Miami to claim the Karate World Championship title for the second time.
Shahzeb is six-time national champion and a gold medalist for Pakistan at the 2014 international events.

Despite his achievements, Shahzeb said he continues to receive no financial support from the government.
