KARACHI: Pakistani rupee gained 20 paisas (+0.13 percent) against the US dollar in the interbank on Thursday.
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the US dollar was opened at Rs160.19 and closed at Rs159.99. The local currency gained Re0.10 against the dollar during the last four days.
The currency dealers said that the market witnessed sufficient supply of the foreign currency in the shape of export receipts and workers’ remittances. They said the demand for import and corporate payments was also high because of upcoming three straight holidays.
The government has announced a public holiday on Friday on account of Kashmir Solidarity Day. It will follow with two weekly holidays, making three straight holidays. – TLTP
