PARACHINAR: Three soldiers were martyred, and four others sustained serious injuries when terrorists ambushed security forces in the Chinarak area of Central Kurram on Sunday.
According to police sources, the attack occurred while security personnel were patrolling near Takray Patti, when heavily armed militants opened fire using heavy weapons.
In the intense exchange of gunfire:
- Lance Naik Aamir, Sepoy Akram, and Sepoy Jibran embraced martyrdom.
- Sepoy Suleman, Masoodul Hasan, Nasir, and Irfan were severely injured.
The wounded soldiers and the bodies of the martyrs were immediately shifted to CMH Thal for medical treatment and further procedures.
Retaliatory Operation Launched
Following the attack, security forces launched a major operation across various areas of Central Kurram. Several houses suspected of harboring terrorist facilitators were set ablaze as part of the crackdown.
The deteriorating security situation has caused major disruptions in the region:
- Main highways and transportation routes across Kurram remain blocked due to the presence of militants in the bordering mountainous areas of Khyber and Orakzai.
- Thousands of residents are confined within their villages, facing severe hardships in daily life, trade, and medical emergencies.
TTP Affiliate Claims Responsibility
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) affiliate, TTG Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group Kurram Wilayah, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to TTP commander Zubair, one of their fighters, Hassan, was killed during the operation.
Despite ongoing military operations in Central Kurram, the persistent presence of terrorists continues to pose a serious threat to security forces and civilians alike.
