The recent aggressive posture adopted by Donald Trump in coordination with Israel against Iran was widely expected to weaken Tehran and force a strategic retreat. However, the outcome appears to be quite the opposite. What was intended as pressure has, in many ways, turned into a blessing in disguise for Iran. Instead of internal divisions, Iran witnessed an unprecedented wave of national unity. Political factions that were previously at odds closed ranks, standing firmly with the government in the face of external threats. Losing top leadership, was a great set back but smooth changeover surprised everybody. The opposition set aside differences, reinforcing a sense of collective responsibility and patriotism. Militarily and politically, Iran demonstrated resilience. Despite the deployment of powerful US fleets and continuous threats, Tehran remained undeterred. It chose to rely on its own strength rather than external alliances, signaling a clear message: Iran is prepared to defend itself independently.
This defiance has challenged the long-standing perception of unquestioned American dominance, raising serious questions about the myth of a superpower capable of imposing its will without consequence. Furthermore, Iran’s stance on sovereignty has been unwavering. It not only resisted pressure but also conveyed readiness for dialogue on its own terms and without coercion. While Washington appeared increasingly frustrated, Iran projected confidence, even responding to threats against its infrastructure with a calm yet firm “welcome,” reflecting strategic patience rather than panic. At the same time, the fragile nature of any ceasefire remains evident, especially as Israeli actions reportedly continue to target civilian areas. This only reinforces Iran’s narrative of resistance and further strengthens domestic and regional support for its position. US must seriously review its policies toward Iran. Continued reliance on threats and military pressure has proven counterproductive. Instead of isolating Iran, these actions have consolidated its internal strength and elevated its standing as a nation determined to safeguard its sovereignty. What was meant to weaken Iran has, ironically, made it stronger. Extension of ceasefire with Iran without time limit and three weeks extension in Lebanon is a good gesture, this will provide ample time to both the parties to sit and sort out all matters once for all to avoid further escalation and future wars.
The present conflict has further reinforced the perception that the United States’ decision to strike Iran while diplomatic talks were still in progress has undermined its own credibility. Iran’s firm and independent stance, taken without reliance on external support, has challenged the long-standing myth of an invincible superpower. This situation echoes the events of the Iran Hostage Crisis, when Iranian students seized the U.S. Embassy on 4 November 1979 and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days, and a subsequent rescue attempt through Operation Eagle Claw failed with the loss of several helicopters. Today, Iran’s resistance is being viewed by many as a broader message to nations worldwide that steadfastness in the face of aggression can alter established power narratives. This evolving reality is steadily becoming part of contemporary history. Pakistan is hopeful and trying its best to ensure both parties display some flexibility to reach to a lasting agreement.
