In a tragic incident from Bihar’s Saran district, a 15-year-old boy named Krishna Kumar lost his life after an unqualified ‘doctor’ performed a gallbladder surgery, reportedly guided by YouTube tutorials. The boy, who was suffering from severe vomiting, was taken to Ganpati Hospital for treatment, where the fake doctor, identified as Ajit Kumar Puri, allegedly performed the surgery without the family’s consent, as reported by NDTV.
Family Devastated by Shocking Negligence
Krishna’s family recounted their devastating experience, explaining that they had taken him to Ganpati Hospital with the hope of relieving his worsening condition. Despite concerns about the doctor’s qualifications, they put their trust in him for basic care. To their horror, Puri decided the boy required immediate surgery and proceeded without informing the family.
“We just wanted to stop the vomiting. But the doctor went ahead with the surgery without telling us,” a relative shared, detailing the traumatic turn of events. They later discovered that Puri relied on YouTube videos during the operation. Krishna’s condition quickly worsened after the botched surgery.
Fake Surgery Conducted Without Consent
As Krishna’s condition deteriorated post-surgery, the doctor hastily arranged for him to be transferred to another hospital in Patna. Tragically, the boy died en route. The family accused Puri and his staff of abandoning Krishna’s body at the hospital and fleeing the scene before the police arrived.
Krishna’s grandfather, Prahlad Prasad Shaw, expressed the family’s anguish, explaining how the boy’s father was sent on an errand while the surgery was performed. “My grandson was in terrible pain. When we asked the doctor why he was suffering, he arrogantly responded, ‘Are you doctors?’” Shaw recalled, his voice filled with grief. Despite their desperate efforts, Krishna succumbed to his injuries that evening. “They left his body on the hospital stairs and disappeared,” Shaw added.
Outrage in the Community
The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the local community, prompting an investigation by the authorities. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and police are currently searching for Ajit Kumar Puri and the staff of Ganpati Seva Sadan, who have gone into hiding. Meanwhile, patients in the hospital were left stranded as the staff abandoned the facility in the wake of the incident.
Similar Case in Mumbai
This tragedy mirrors a similar case earlier this year in Mumbai, where a man named Parvez Abdul Aziz Shaikh was arrested for illegally practicing medicine using his wife’s medical degree. Shaikh had been operating a clinic in Malwani, treating patients without a valid medical license. Authorities arrested him under charges of cheating, forgery, and even murder, following the death of a patient under his care.
Both incidents highlight the growing concern over unqualified individuals posing as medical professionals, with potentially fatal consequences. As investigations continue, there is a growing demand for stricter regulations and accountability to prevent such tragedies in the future.
