ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has recorded 1,594 new cases of coronavirus and 48 fatalities during the last twenty-four hours, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday.
According to the NCOC, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has soared to 532,412 with addition of the fresh infections while the countrywide death toll jumped to 11,295.
Balochistan has reported 21 new cases of the coronavirus, taking the provincial tally of infections to 18,736. According to a spokesperson for the health department, the number of COVID-19 cases is decreasing in the province as the positivity rate of the COVID-19 cases was recorded at 3.52pc during the last 24 hours.
Five people are still under treatment at the various hospitals of the province and 13 people have recovered their health during the time. The number of active cases in Balochistan currently stands at 295, while 193 people have lost their lives to the pandemic so far.
The confirmed tally for COVID-19 in Punjab rose to 153,410 after the province recorded another 485 cases on Saturday. As per Punjab’s healthcare department, 24 more patients succumbed to the deadly infection, taking the provincial death toll to 4,561. Punjab has seen a total of 137,678 recoveries so far.
So far Sindh has reported a total of 240,570 infections, Punjab 153,410, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 65,287, Balochistan 18,736, Islamabad 40,713, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 8,795, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,901.
According to the NCOC, Pakistan’s current COVID-19 positivity ratio stands at 3.96 percent. The highest positivity ratio was observed in Hyderabad at 11.57 percent, followed by Peshawar at 11.29 percent and Karachi at 10.68 percent, the NCOC revealed.
The positivity ratio in various federating units was observed as 5.97 percent in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 3.52 percent in Balochistan, 0.56 percent in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), 1.18 percent in Islamabad, 5.25 percent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), 2.54 percent in Punjab and 10.23 percent in Sindh. – TLTP
