ISLAMABAD: The coronavirus pandemic claimed 71 more lives across the country during the last twenty-four hours, lifting up the death toll to 10,176, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Friday.
Another 2,463 infections were reported during the aforementioned period. According to NCOC, with fresh inclusion of the infections in the country the national tally of cases now currently stands at 482,178.
A total of 2,156 patients recovered from the virus on Thursday, while overall 437,229 people have recovered from the deadly virus so far. Some 2,216 patients are stated to be in critical condition. The total count of active cases in the country is 34,773.
A total of 41,039 tests were conducted across the country during the last twenty-four hours, while 6,737,107 samples have been tested so far.
In Sindh, at least 953 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 216,632. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said in a statement on Friday that the death toll climbed to 3,582 after 22 patients succumbed to the virus. As many as 196,134 patients have recovered so far, he added.
Punjab reported 659 new coronavirus cases, taking the provincial tally to 138,608. In the last 24 hours, the virus claimed 29 lives. The death toll stands at 4,042. The province conducted 16,617 tests on Thursday and the total number of active coronavirus cases has reached 10,968. Over 2,457,000 tests have been conducted in the province so far. – TLTP
