October 1st marks the anniversary of the People’s Republic of China’s liberation from capitalism and imperialism, led by Chairman Mao Zedong and the Chinese Communist Party (CPC). The National Day holiday, from October 1st to 7th, is celebrated as “Golden Week,” a time of nationwide festivity. The grandest event takes place in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, where China’s military strength is showcased in a spectacular parade. This day holds immense significance, as it signifies the beginning of China’s journey towards development and stability. Today, China stands as one of the most important nations globally, having emerged peacefully as the world’s second-largest economy and a stabilizing force in a changing world. China’s initiatives, like the Belt and Road Initiative and CPEC, are living examples of how it has become a beacon of hope for developing nations grappling with economic, financial, food, and energy crises.

Nations are guided by their leaders on the path to progress, and the Chinese people were fortunate to have Chairman Mao Zedong, who faithfully led the country from its inception in 1949 until 1976. Under his leadership, the nation set its course for the future. Following him, another visionary, Deng Xiaoping, took the reins and launched economic reforms that opened China to the world, setting the foundation for its transformation into an economic powerhouse. The journey initiated by Mao and continued by Deng has brought the Chinese nation to where it stands today, with the third generation now being led by President Xi Jinping, another revolutionary leader. The current Chinese leadership focuses on national reconciliation, peace, and economic development. Remarkably, despite global economic downturns, China has managed to maintain a stable economy, thanks to strong foreign exchange reserves and a robust industrial policy.

From the outset of the revolution, Chairman Mao was deeply concerned about the disparities between rich and poor, urban and rural populations, and men and women. With a genuine desire to improve China’s social, political, and economic landscape, he embarked on a transformative journey. Since October 1949, the Communist Party of China has not only governed the country but also turned it into an economic powerhouse and eradicated extreme poverty. China has achieved the historic feat of lifting 800 million people out of extreme poverty-a remarkable accomplishment realized through relentless hard work and dedication.

The People’s Republic of China has pursued its goals of development and stability with determination, from Mao Zedong to President Xi Jinping. In November 2012, Xi Jinping was first elected General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and named Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission. By March 2013, he became President of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission. Over the past 12 years, under Xi Jinping’s leadership, China has overcome numerous challenges, creating a historical miracle of unprecedented achievements. Most significantly, the Chinese people today feel more content, secure, and fulfilled than ever before. Politically, Xi Jinping holds a central role within the CPC, and his thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in this new era continue to guide the nation’s development.

Xi Jinping has consistently emphasized the goal of building a modern socialist nation that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful. Under his leadership, China, the world’s second-largest economy, is advancing along a model of modernization. In the past decade, China’s GDP has soared from 53.9 trillion yuan in 2012 to 121 trillion yuan (approximately 17.37 trillion US dollars). Over the same period, China’s share of the global economy has exceeded 18%, and its contribution to global economic growth has averaged over 30%. During this time, China eradicated extreme poverty and developed the world’s largest education, social security, and healthcare systems.

Despite facing a complex international environment, China’s economy remains on a recovery trajectory, improving daily. Through the development of a modern industrial system and scientific and technological innovation, China has also made significant strides in environmental protection. These achievements lay a solid foundation for the substantial welfare of its people. In 2023, China’s GDP exceeded 126 trillion yuan (17 trillion US dollars), and the nation continues to achieve its goals with an annual growth rate of 5.2%, the highest among the world’s major economies. China contributes 30% to global economic growth. In 2024, the country celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The GDP growth target for the year is set at around five percent, with a focus on advancing the construction of a modern industrial system and accelerating the development of high-quality production forces. Undoubtedly, China is currently the second-largest economy in the world and is considered the engine of global economic growth.

It is undeniable that the friendship between Pakistan and China has become an example for the world. The leadership of both countries remains committed to strengthening this unique bond. Pakistan-China relations are of a special nature, with this chapter of brotherhood, friendship, and trust having been written over seventy years ago. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a practical demonstration of this selfless friendship, benefiting the entire region, including Pakistan. This lasting partnership will ultimately contribute to regional and global peace and stability.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Chinese brothers and sisters. The people of Pakistan wish China continued prosperity in the years to come. We pray that the Chinese people remain happy, peaceful, and successful always.
