KPT making the history
Karachi Port Trust (KPT) in collaboration with I’M Karachi organised cultural heritage tour of 43 participants’ group comprising students and faculty members of Nai Roshni School (New Karachi) visited KPT Archive Gallery and KPT head office during the reported week in connection with I’M Karachi cultural heritage tour program 2019-20. Kpt Heritage Manager, Ghazala Shahbaz Khan gave presentation on KPT hundred years’ old history. KPT was established in 1916 opened by Excellency Lord Willingdon, Governor of Bombay on 5th January 1916, designed by G. Wittet, consulting architect to the government of Bombay. The total cost of the construction expenditure of the building is around Rs. 974,990 but due to its ideal location and state of the art structure British government decided to utilize this building as hospital for their wounded soldiers of World War-I from 7th February 1916 to 6th May 1919 and till now this place is controlling our Karachi Port.
The second presentation was given by Engineer Yasir about the operational details and functions of KPT. He said their main function is to facilitate the maritime trade and for performing their duties properly they have pilot boats, tugs and One Dredging Ship named Tshd Abul use to check port depth, survey and dredging (sea worthiness). At last KPT team assured that this study tour will be helpful in the career path of students and they will be well-versed about port and shipping.
Soul Fest in Karachi
Strings recently took the stage at Soul Fest in Karachi in front of the eager crowd during the reported week. The musicians also called two of their little fans on the stage to perform with them, and it was truly a heartfelt moment.
The famous band has recently released the last single from their 30-year anniversary album marking as another milestone in their iconic musical careers. As they took on the stage to perform for their excited fans, two little fans caught their eyes and were called up on stage to sing along with the musicians. The 11-year-old and 5-year-old were enthusiastically singing along to classic hits like Duur, Sir Kiye Ye Pahar, Najane Kyun, Anjaane, and recent hits like Raat Shabnami, and Sajni. When the five-year-old sang along to “Sajni”, the crowd was ecstatic listening in on this stirring moment.
The internationally acclaimed pop-rock band Strings has existed in the Pakistani musical scene for the past 30 years and their relevance has not yet halted as theirs still remain one of the greatest musical stories in Pakistan.
Daily Pakistan fetes mediapersons
On behalf of Daily Pakistan Karachi, Mubasher Mir Editor and Farhan Khan Marketing Manager Daily Pakistan arranged a get-together meeting of media marketing friends of advertising agencies and newspapers for dinner at a local famous restaurant of Nihari during the reported week. Dr Ishtiaq Khalid Advocate, Dr Ansar Madani, Manzar Naqvi (The Financial Daily) Jamil Kashif (Media Axis) Noman Synergy, Aftab (Group M), Nazir (PMC), Younus (D. Hamidi), Saleem, Osama (Orient), Karim, Suleman (Spectrum) Naeem (Pakistan Observer), Shabeh and various other friends were invited to this get-to gether meeting followed by dinner.
Prevailing media crises and issues facing by mediapersons were also discussed informally during the meeting.
16th Corporate Ambassador Awards
Javed Mahmood, Founder/Editor Corporate Ambassador/TV Analyst and ex-Editor daily The Nation, Karachi organized its 16th Corporate Ambassador Awards at Beach Luxury Hotel Karachi during the reported week. Rozina Jalal, renowned Astrologer Numerology and Stone Specialist was the Chairperson of these Awards.
Corporate Ambassador is Pakistan’s first English Weekly that covers issues relating to economy, culture, showbiz, war on terror, organised crimes and international trade and diplomatic affairs.
Besides, it offers a vast range of general news and events from all over the world. Within a very short span, Corporate Ambassador has organised 15 awards (Corporate Ambassador Awards) – 11 in Karachi and four in Islamabad and two conferences. Corporate Ambassador Awards concept was introduced in 2013 to appreciate professionals, youngsters, students and companies/organisations having outstanding achievements and motivate others in the society to pursue the path of the high-achievers.
