KARACHI: Chairman Saylani Welfare Trust, Maulana Bashir Farooq Qadri addressing a Press conference highlighted the critical situation caused by the lockdown. He said that 52 percent of Karachi’s population resides in slump areas are suffering from hunger, government should review their decision.
He said people will be victimized daily as out of a population of 22 million daily, about 0.2 million people benefit from Saylani Welfare Trust every day. Pakistan will not able to afford it like other developed countries and neither our country is cold enough to have high mortality rate, 60 to 70 percent of the people living in Karachi are their family’s bread winners and daily wagers are unemployed now and the government is also unable to cope with this situation alone.
Maulana Bashir Farooqi said that Saylani distributed more than 1,13,000 (one lakh thirteen thousands) of breads (Roti), 182 Biryani daigs, and five hundred liters of milk, free ration bags to more than 20,800 families which has the worth more than Rs 40 million.The work is being done on a daily basis, he said. Saylani is doing all at their own but still we cannot reach all the houses because we are not the government who has the Data bank of all the residents.
He appealed to all corporate bodies having business in Pakistan will move forward to help those in need from their Corporate Social responsibility (CSR) funds during this difficult time to save the nation from hunger.
The lives of millions of people are at stake because of this lock down. He mentioned the statement published in the newspaper of the former US Ambassador to Pakistan, Hussein Haqqani, saying that the virus has spread by our enemies and Israel wants to take full advantage of it because from pandemic of coronavirus and claims to have developed the vaccine use prevent from “coronavirus” but this vaccine will be given only to the country who except Israel as a Sovereign state.
He also raised the problems of traders and industrialists and cited that Pakistan is an agricultural developing country where the total daily production of milk in a city like Karachi is 45 lakh liters and due to the current lock down, 22 lakh liters of milk is wasting away, the same is the case with vegetables and fruits and fish. In the end Maulana Bashir Farooq Qadri said that we should all turn towards God together to forgive us.
