ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting comprising top civil and military leadership held in Islamabad on Friday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair to review the internal and external security situation.
The high-level civil-military huddle expressed the resolve that the sovereignty of Pakistan will be protected at all costs.
Pakistan believes in peaceful co-existence with its neighbours, but it has the will and capacity to defend its people and territorial integrity, said the participants.
The meeting also expressed serious concern over the continued human rights violation by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir and urged the international community to take notice of it.
The forum also paid glowing tributes to the bravery and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies for successfully thwarting the recent attack on Pakistan Stock Exchange.
Those present at the meeting include Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt General Faiz Hameed,
Defence Minister Pervez Khattak and others.
Earlier on June 3, expressing grave concerns over continuous and unproved ceasefire violations by Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC), Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar had warned that there will be
‘uncontrollable and unintended consequences’ of any military adventurism.
Talking to a private news channel, the DG ISPR had warned India not to ‘play with fire’ and added that Pakistan was fully prepared and would respond with full might to any Indian military adventure.
Separately, Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Dr Noor-ul-Haq Qadri called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday. They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has reiterated his commitment that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project will be completed at all costs and its dividends will be extended to every Pakistani.
Chairing a meeting here on Friday to review progress on projects under the CPEC, which was attended by federal ministers and CPEC officials, the Prime Minister said that this project is the manifestation of Pakistan-China friendship. He said that CPEC is the best project for Pakistan’s social and economic development and it guarantees the country’s bright future.
The Premier was briefed over the current status of different projects being completed under the CPEC plan. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of CPEC Authority and vowed that the federal government will complete the CPEC project as per plan at any cost.
The Prime Minister directed concerned officials to further enhance the performance and capacity of the CPEC Authority for the early completion of the ongoing projects.
Earlier on June 18, Chairman China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa had announced that the second phase of CPEC will create job opportunities for Pakistani youth.
An agreement signing ceremony was held between CPEC Authority and Chinese companies in Taxila. Asif Saleem Bajwa had elaborated the phase-II of the mage project has been started, which will provide further investment opportunities to foreign investors in Special Economic Zones.
At least 80 energy projects have been completed while 9 projects are under completion, he said, adding that two energy projects will also be the part of phase-II.
