KARACHI: Korangi PTCL Telephone Exchange suspended its service of telephone, Broadband Internet for the last one month. Suspension of services resulted in huge financial losses of the business Community.
Most of the KATI members are seriously affected. Officials of Korangi exchange said that Fiber Optic Cable is stolen hence they are not able to continue with the digital services offered by the exchange, so most of the area is without any telecom service for the last 04 weeks.
The Korangi Exchange Business Manager’s role is not seen to restore the services and to address the grievances of business community. The suspension of services and theft of the OFC not reported to Police or Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA).
PTCL failure will big blow to Corporate competition in Karachi that Mobilink and Zong already licenced for fixed phones lines that they are introducing a low-cost services Gpone (Digital services) which will provide the telecom fixed telephones services to Karachiites to end PTCL monopoly of providing fixed phones.
President Korangi Association of Trade and Industry Saleem uz Zaman informed TFD that we are trying to resolve this issue with PTCL and they were given assurance to restore their services soon.
