United Business Group is now fully geared to stage come back in the coming elections of FPCCI to be held in last week of December 2020. Unfortunately it was untimely illness of Patron -in-Chief S. M. Muneer former Chairman TDAP and President FPCCI as a result some vested interests prevailed and managed to penetrate in the ranks resulting in losing election by UBG. The business community has seen how disappointing has been the performance of Businessman Panel (BMP). There have been groupings within the group as result prominent leaders started leaving the group. The greatest set back to BMP has been loss of most active member of the team Mian Zahid Hussain Chairman National Business Group now joined hands with UBG. The entire credit goes to Mr S.M.Muneer who once again motivated business community to come under one umbrella for the sole purpose of helping government to improve economic situation of Pakistan and bring back on tracks the economic wheel of the country.
5 November 2020 was a great day when the elite business personalities assembled at the office of M/s Gohar Group of Companies situated at Gohar Chambers Karachi on the eve of opening Election Office and for introducing nominees from recently formed group UBG and NBG in the forth coming elections of FPCCI.
Mohammad Hanif Gohar former Chairman of ABAD and Vice President of FPCCI is always in the forefront once again named as Chief Coordinator of UBG Election Cell He has been performing this important duty for many years under the dynamic leadership of Mr. S. M. Muneer Patron-in-chief and Chairman UBG Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik. It has been great gathering of top business tycoons of the country to introduce combined team of UBG and NBG for coming elections. Before announcing names of new team Mr. S.M.Muneer said the team comprises of known businessman who enjoy excellent reputation in business community and further emphasised that UBG has always performed the role of bridge between government and business community and always achieved their objectives and goals. He further added that during their 5 year tenure UBG brought great success to FPCCI within and abroad with outstanding results. He criticised the present team on account of extravagance where as UBG considered the FPCCI assets as sacred trust. In a brief speech Chairman Mian Zahid Hussain was very vocal in pointing out that during difficult days of Corona virus the business community was neglected and suffered a great deal with no recourse. He further added that his group has joined UBG to give more strength so that business community is benefitted due to combined efforts. Former President FPCCI Zubair Tufail and Secretary General UBG talked about past performance that has been very productive and progressive period resulted in growth of business and FPCCI was given proper weight by all the previous governments and enjoyed great respect in government circles. The Chief Coordinator and former VP Hanif Gohar paid rich tributes to their leader S.M. Muneer and said entire UBG stand united under his able leadership that has created turbulence in opposite camp and unlike last year they are better organised and united. Mr S. M. Muneer announced nominations for the coming elections. Former SVP Mr. Khalid Tawab Sitara-e -Imtiaz has been nominated for the Presidential slot of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry who received thunderous applaud from the audience and thanked them for reposing confidence in his leadership qualities, for SVP Mr. Abdul Rauf Mukhtar and nominees from other provinces were also named. The top slots of the FPCCI are given on rotation basis to all federating units and federal capital. This has been the best choice due to his rich experience in looking after the interest of business community, he enjoys great respect with almost all the government functionaries and most suited in presenting business related problems and issues to government with greater degree of confidence.
It was largely attended function that included former Chief Minister Allaudin Mari, Gulzar Firoz, Mazhar Ali Nasir, Zubair Baweja, President KATI Umar Rehan, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Abdul SamiKhan, Tariq Halim, Noor Ahmed Khan, Mumtaz Shaikh, Naheed Masud and many other prominent leaders from business community were present’
UBG has all along supported PTI government and wants prime minister to steer the country out of present economic crisis. Business community has welcomed the steps taken to provide relief especially to construction industry and FBR related concessions has been hailed by all the business community that will generate more economic activity and employment opportunities. Recent announcement giving relief to small businessman on power tariff shall certainly help in reviving the closed industries.
FPCCI has now greater burden and has to walk extra mile and guide the government in making business friendly policies with more concessions for all the industries to grow. It would be more appropriate for the Prime Minister to appoint a business representative duly recommended by FPCCI for close liaison with the government as red tapism in the bureaucracy create hurdles that only widens the gap between government and entrepreneurs. It is hoped FPCCI shall come up to the expectations of the people of Pakistan and business community and government also honours its commitment made to the business community at large. As a first gesture of good will government should clear all the outstanding rebate claims. We wish UBG grand success in coming elections
