KARACHI: Pakistani rupee continued its winning streak against the US dollar in the interbank on the first day of the week and gained another 18 paisas on Monday.
According to a tweet of the State Bank of Pakistan, the US dollar was opened at Rs159.09 and closed at Rs158.91. Pakistani rupee has gained Rs2.28 against the greenback during the last two weeks.
The money dealers in the market attributed this rally of rupee against the US dollar to encouraging economic indicators as well as global downfall of the greenback. They said that on the other side, importers are careful in buying goods from their foreign suppliers owing to the second wave of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the liquid foreign exchange reserves of the country stand at $19.35 billion by week ended on October 29, 2020, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said in another tweet. – TLTP
