KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) council in its meeting appreciated and profusely thanked the prime minister Imran Khan for his deep and special interest in the micro to medium sized sector (MSME) and hoped that bureaucracy would follow his advice earnestly just like State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) which has made finance affordable and available to all segments of the society, says a Press release.
UNISAME president Zulfikar Thaver said the Unisame Council (UC) has noticed that the PM talks about the SMEs in every meeting and in all ceremonies both at home and abroad even when the subject is not SMEs. This indicates his keen desire to uplift the marginalized sector.
UC said the sector is now facilitated with finance as it is now affordable and available.
Keeping this in mind the UC has urged the PM to facilitate the sector in terms of affordable energy, cost of raw material, technology, affordable logistics and land for industries.
UC has also urged the PM to facilitate the sector with commercial property leasing for pay as you earn schemes for purchase of shops, offices, workshops and factories. Secondly the sector needs state of the art industrial estates
The other requirement is of affordable energy as electricity, gas and even water has become costly and unaffordable.
Imported raw material needs reduction in duties, the technological gap needs to be filled and last but not the least logistics needs to be improved and made efficient and affordable.
The PM needs to direct the policy makers to ensure that not only ease of doing business but also cost of doing business is addressed in all areas of factors of production diligently.
It is heartening to note that SMEDA has now rolled up its sleeves and planning and working to facilitate the sector.
UNISAME appreciates PM special interest in MSME
