ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Capital Development Authority (CDA), Ali Nawaz Khan has said that a regulatory framework for Islamabad is being developed to better run its affairs.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Ali Nawaz said the move envisages merger of various organisations including the CDA, cooperative departments, companies acts and others into one. He said the approval of the regulatory framework will be taken from the Cabinet.
The special assistant said that an inquiry was conducted into the recent flooding in the E-11 sector of the capital. He said it has been found that the society showed slackness in clearing nullah. He said the response of the rescue service was also evaluated. He said it has been decided to remove encroachments along the nullah in E-11 sector.
He said the initiative is being taken to avoid urban flooding as one such occurred in the sector E-11 of Islamabad that took lives of a mother and her child recently.
Awan said it would be inappropriate for the city, if different agencies are overseeing its regulatory framework. He said efforts are afoot to carry out hydrological survey of different societies including sector E-11. – TLTP
